Grotto of Our Lady Lourdes image
The Grotto is a location on campus that you shouldn’t pass up. It is a perfect place to pray and an ideal place for taking photos! I recommend going before or the day after the football games because they can become quite crowded. There were plenty of candles available for people to light up and there is a donation box. I highly recommend visiting! See more..

Shrine of the Christ's Passion image
We traveled here as a family for Spring Break 2014. The Shrine of the Christ's Passion is right next to the main road, so you can see some of the stations of the cross from the road, and the Our Lady of the New Millennium. As a family we enjoyed going through all the stations, and listening to Bill Curtis narrate us through each of them. Such beautiful bronze sculptures, and landscaping around the Shrine. We came here during lent, and really opened our young children's eyes as to what Jesus went through for us. It was moving. This place has a wonderful gift shop and very nice employees that explained to us everything about the Shrine of Christ's Passion. See more..

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we were able to take a tour of the temple area. The woman was very kind and knowledgeable. The temple area is so beautiful. We then walked around the grounds and I loved how quiet and peaceful it was. The koi pond needs some work, hopefully they can get that fixed up. I'm sure it can be a wonderful area to sit and relax. They have 4 cabins you can rent, they're so cute! I may do that the next time I'm in Bloomington. There is a nice little gift shop and the man working there was very enjoyable to talk to. I bought The Book of Joy and several souvenirs. I definitely recommend anyone to visit! See more..

Just happened upon this beautiful place by accident. Decided to go inside and so happy that we did. The monastery dates back to 1867. There are wonderful women there who are so happy to tell you about the history of the Abbey. The grounds are beautiful and such an inspiration. The cemetery was interesting, peaceful and serene. There is a gift shop on site as well with wonderful cookies. They also have a brewery with the most delicious pretzels and craft beer. Well worth the visit. fun, spiritual and interesting See more..

    Saint Meinrad Archabbey image
Saw the signs for Saint Meinrad on the way to Santa Claus (where we were staying). Stopped at Saint Meinrad on the way back. A bit of a drive, but well worth it. We did a free, self-guiding tour starting with the church itself. Also did the rock garden and took photos of some of the statues and monuments. Entire place was peaceful, serene and beautiful. Everyone we saw was friendly, even if we were asking a dumb question. See more..

    Geode Grotto image
The Mother of God Shrine and Saint Joseph Shrines were fantastic. The rainy day we went there was no other person about. The columns and fountains were all made from geodes and all the walls were covered with geodes. The place is a real treasure and life work of an artist with real faith and creativity. Do not miss this wonder if you are in the area as it will impress even the most staunch skeptic by the sheer scope and size of the grotto. See more..

  14. 4.5 Immaculate Conception Church   (5 reviews)
    - Nice Parish, no steps
Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    Immaculate Conception Church   image
The church on this site was built about 1950 and had a gathering space added to the east recently. The Italian mosaic of Mary facing 7th street is now protected by glass. There are some new stained glass windows made by a parishioner added during the addition. The church, parish hall and gathering space are all on ground level. The other two Catholic parishes in the county, in Garrett and Waterloo, are much older buildings with steps, but also have ramps and / or an elevator for accessibility. Both have had recent restorations and are beautiful examples of architecture from the time of their construction. See more..
  15. 5.0 St. Boniface Catholic Church (1 review)
    - A beautiful and serene catholic church that is a refuge of peace!

This is a great church for connecting to God. They offer weekday Masses and confessions in the afternoon as well as regular Mass services on the weekend. They have a faith filled children's religious education program, and school. The priests that are celebrants for the pastorate are so kind, devout and gifted. There is a great Spanish ministry for the community as well as wonderful faith formation activities for families and individuals. Lastly, they often have Sunday evening Vesper prayer services that are truly a retreat for the soul. Additionally, their annual vespers for the Feast of Christ the King during Advent is simply breathtaking! See more..
