This is a highlight of the Notre Dame campus. As someone who is not religious I still had a very peaceful and spiritual feeling. From the moment you walk through the cathedral doors you can begin appreciating the time and work that went into it. This cathedral has the most stained glass in the United States (or so we were told). The paintings are breathtaking and I could not take my eyes off of them. If you appreciate beauty, don’t miss this important part of Jasper. The 235 foot tower is hard to miss. But the real treat is inside this 1880 sandstone church. After the Romanesque ceiling takes your breath away, check out the Swiss stained glass windows, Italian marble alter, Austrian mosaics, 1902 communion rail and Holtkamp organ. This is a beautiful cathedral and well worth seeing. I feel that this is the best sight in the city of Fort Wayne. There is quite a bit of parking if you arrive sometime other than when there are church services. During services it is very difficult to park in this small midtown parking area. There is no charge to get in.See more..

A beautiful church to visit. I visited during Madison's "candlelight tour of homes". The church staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The church on this site was built about 1950 and had a gathering space added to the east recently. The Italian mosaic of Mary facing 7th street is now protected by glass. There are some new stained glass windows made by a parishioner added during the addition. The church, parish hall and gathering space are all on ground level. The other two Catholic parishes in the county, in Garrett and Waterloo, are much older buildings with steps, but also have ramps and / or an elevator for accessibility. Both have had recent restorations and are beautiful examples of architecture from the time of their construction. See more..
When I first came to this church a few years ago, I was taken aback at how incredibly beautiful this place is! The church is impeccably well kept! The blue, cream, and white color scheme is surprisingly peaceful. Of course, a church is not only made of walls, but also of living stone. In that respect, Holy Cross Church is alive and flourishing! The parishioners are very warm and welcoming. Our family has several young children, and although the kids did make noise during the service, the other parishioners seemed to ENJOY the little ones!
