    - Surprisingly great

Lubeznik Center for the Arts image
I've been to the Lubeznik Center a handful of times over the years, and each time I've found at least one wonderful exhibit (usually more than one!). The quality is really exceptional, and the thoughtfulness that goes into each exhibit reflects well on the staff and the Center as a whole. We're too far to take advantage of the art classes, unfortunately, so I can't speak to those. But I highly recommend a visit! This is really a gem of an institution for Michigan City. See more..

This large space always has several simultaneous fine exhibitions to visit. On a recent visit I saw a superb painting exhibition devoted to the Indiana Dunes. A century or more ago, the great dunes of northern Indiana were the place for plein air painting in the Midwest. The paintings in the show are every bit as good as French plein air paintings not done by the few great masters of the genre. See more..

The local coffee shop/consignment shop staff directed us to this museum or we would have missed it. So glad they did. The building alone is wonderful to see and the paintings were excellent. They have some very fine oil paintings. The founding fathers of Richmond really had some foresight to collect this art at the turn of the century. The lady at the desk was very cordial. Easy parking. Richmond was just a darling town. I would have liked to explore it more but we were just passing through. See more..
