  1. 4.5 Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar (8.085 reviews)
    - A pillar church
    Historic Sites • Religious Sites
Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar image
A Basilic church that has a miraculous beginning. I have never thought that I will be inside this wonderful church. It is breathtaking to see how the church was made and the designs and history that only walls of the church can tell. If you are religious or just coming in Zaragoza for a tour, you must see this church. See more..
  2. 4.5 Palacio de la Aljaferia (4.299 reviews)
    - Not to be missed
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Monuments & Statues
    Palacio de la Aljaferia image
An exceptional site, and exceptionally well presented. Guided tours can be booked, but we took ourselves around. Headsets are available and there are information boards in English throughout. We were particularly interested to see how the building was changed over the centuries, and that the most recent ‘alteration’ has been to emphasise its moorish origin. Beautiful architecture and displays. A small gift shop, and a cafe offering a ridiculously cheap menu del dia and some of the best coffee in Spain. And for us oldies, the entrance fee was just a euro! See more..
  3. 4.5 Monasterio de Piedra (4.081 reviews)
    - Very beautiful for a day hike in nature
Spent More than 3 hours Churches & Cathedrals
    Monasterio de Piedra image
The park with so many waterfalls, each one different, is a real pleasure to visit; there is some kind of inner silence it calls. Prepare a small picnic or you can eat in the little restaurant right at the entrance. We took a bus earl from Zaragoza to Catalayud and from there another bus direct to the monastery, and in the afternoon same back to Zaragoza. See more..
  4. 4.5 El Tubo (3.233 reviews)
    - Fun corner of town
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    El Tubo image
Stop by during dinnertime, it's right in the heart of old town and has so much energy! It kinda blew my mind after walking around a very sleepy city the rest of the evening. We found good cheap bites and had a fun time drinking here and taking in the vibes. Worth a walk by even if you want something a little more elevated for dinner. See more..
  5. 4.5 La Seo del Salvador (2.474 reviews)
    - Extraordinary architecture inside and out.
Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
    La Seo del Salvador image
An extraordinary place. A handset guide is included in your entrance fee - but unfortunately it’s the same English narrator who mispronounces so many words; and the same historian who has written so many words, that we are familiar with from so many other cathedral visits in Spain - so much detail about the chapels. However, I am told that the guide for children is really good. Lots of chapels to see, but it’s the main building architecture that is so stunning. Take a look around outside, especially towards the rear. The entrance fee includes the tapestry museum - really not to be missed. On reflection, my advice would be to visit the outside first, then the tapestries before using what energy you have left with the handset and guide to the chapels. See more..

  7. 4.0 Dinopolis (1.671 reviews)
    - Best day of my life!
    Wednesday: Amusement & Theme Parks
    Dinopolis image
Hi, I'm an eleven year old girl but when I visited this park I was six. I have been fascinated with dinosaurs since I was four. But to tell the truth, to enjoy this you don't have to be a dinosaur fanatic. It has a great restaurant, similar to a McDonalds, which is just what a kid likes. It also has a fun and educational museum. It is very interactive, which makes it easier for us kids to learn. And then there are the amazing attractions for kids and adults to enjoy. I truthfully can say that my day here with my family was one of the best days of my life. See more..
  8. 4.5 Fundacion Amantes de Teruel (1.371 reviews)

    Fundacion Amantes de Teruel image
It’s more then only a church visit. Also the mausoleum from Teruels most famous lovers is placed here. And the church is also like the cathedral definitely worthy of a visit. For sure when you do the full tour and also go up on the rooftop and get guided over all the grounds. Tours are think it only in Spanish but with the audio book I got around fine. Staff is also very pleasant and friendly! See more..

  10. 4.5 Monastery of San Juan de la Peña (1.292 reviews)
    - Absolutely unique!
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Monastery of San Juan de la Peña image
I love bringing people to see this place! Set in a cliff, you have to come up a narrow winding road, round bend after bend, and suddenly you see the Romanesque cloister and you feel as if the cliff will fall at any moment. The first sight is quite something! San Juan de la Peña is a collection of buildings; the spectacular old monastery, some of which dates back to the 8th century, inhabited until the 16th century when it was devastated by fire. The monks then moved to the room of the hill and built the new monastery, of which just a few walls remain, but they are displayed in such a way that you walk over transparent floors and see the white, ghostly figures of the monks in their ruined cells. An amazing visit, to be thoroughly recommended! See more..
  11. 4.5 Parque Jardin Historico Monasterio de Piedra (1.274 reviews)
    - Relaxing, impressive, clean
Spent More than 3 hours Parks
Parque Jardin Historico Monasterio de Piedra image
Posted plenty photos of this location but quite simply visit if you are in the area and if you are not then it is worth the drive to get there. The whole zone is impressive. It is extremely well maintained and the walks are clearly signposted. Some areas are closed in, so keep that in mind, but anyone that can walk can get through. I can’t speak to wheelchair users. The scenery and waterfalls are stunning, we visited after heavy rainfall to everything was bouncing!! The restaurant food is surprisingly reasonably priced with sensible distancing in place. You can spend the whole day here, take a picnic and relax. See more..
  12. 4.5 Torre Del Pilar (1.101 reviews)
    - Amazing view
    Monuments & Statues
    Torre Del Pilar image
The £3 to go up by elevator are a must - you need to go into the church and follow an arrow, and don’t worry as the lift isn’t closed (the chap who sells tickets also goes up and down). After the end of the lift ride you still go up a few more flights, but mind that the landing for the lift probably gives you the best photos. Go in the morning as the sun is right. See more..
  13. 4.5 Pasarelas del Vero (1.081 reviews)
    - Very nice excursion on Vero River Canyon
    Hiking Trails
    Pasarelas del Vero image
Pasarelas del Rio Vero are artificial walkpath on the Vero River Canyon, in the surroundings of Alquezar, a very beautiful town in Aragon Region. Here you can literally walk on the River and see some very beautiful views of it and the Canyon. Pitifully now you have to pay to enter in the excursion, because there are a lot of people (in coronavirus times now, before). However the excursion is very nice. I recommend you do the excursion until the viewpoint, after it is not necessary (we went to Asque, a little town about 8 km from Alquezar). See more..
  14. 4.5 Ciudadela De Jaca (1.075 reviews)
    - The must-see location in Jaca
    Wednesday: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Military Museums • Castles • History Museums
    Ciudadela De Jaca image
The citadel of Jaca dates from the 16th century, a star-shaped fortress that houses a fantastic military miniatures museum, a museum dedicated to special forces and a remarkable collection of military art. It's also worth wandering around the battlements and staring down at the deep moat to try and spot the deer. Allow about 90 minutes to take in everything that it has to offer. See more..

    Plaza Mayor image
The Plaza was welcoming on the Friday evening in mid -May when we arrived. It was quiet with a few tables here and there where happy travellers sat in friendly chatter. A stroll across the stone walls and onto the plaza was relaxing. We enjoyed our meal at one of the restaurants. See more..
  16. 4.5 Estacion Internacional de Canfranc (927 reviews)
    - Great building! Very interesting history!
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Estacion Internacional de Canfranc image
Estación Internacional de Canfranc is the tren station located in the little town called Canfranc near the border between Spain and France, in the Pyrenees. It was built in the beginning of the 20th Century, but it was inaugurated in 1928 and due to the Spanish War and 2nd World War it could not be used until some years after. Really it has a brief, but very interesting history. Also, years after, this place was not used as a very important border point, so the train station was abandoned and bad preserved. Nowadays, it is an impressive building, where you can learn about the history of the region in a guided visit, but only you can see one of the rooms with original furniture, because it was being restored and in a near future converted in a 5* hotel. In fact, nowadays, you can go to Zaragoza from here in a long travel in one of the five or six trains, which arrive there everyday. A hidden gem (an for me an unknown place) in the region. A top building and history! See more..
  17. 4.5 Cathedral of Jaca (751 reviews)

    Cathedral of Jaca image
The Cathedral of St Peter the Apostle is a Roman Catholic church located in Jaca, in Aragon, Spain. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jaca. It is the first Romanesque cathedral built in Aragon (1070s - early 12th century)and one of the oldest in the Iberian peninsula. Its current appearance is the result of later additions and modifications introduced especially in the early modern period (from the late XVth to late XVIIIth century). Don´t hesitate to visit us! 21. 4.5 Castillo de Loarre (701 reviews)
    - Beautifully preserved Lombard castle
    Spent < 1 hour Castles
    Castillo de Loarre image
Very well preserved castle with many rooms to explore. Tours are ONLY in Spanish (the website suggests other languages are available, but this is not true). You can download an audio guide, but it relies on a good mobile signal, which cut out several times as we self toured the castle; we found it hard therefore to work out where we were and what we were looking at. Despite that the castle is well worth the visit due to its excellent state of preservation. Plenty of parking- not accessible without a vehicle. The ticket includes a visit to Bolea church (well worth it if you can) and San Lorenzo. I would recommend you download the (more limited) guide in your chosen language BEFORE arrival. The famous dog is first turn on the right as you enter (easily missed) See more..
  22. 4.5 Torre Mudejar de El Salvador (700 reviews)
    - My favorite tower in Teruel!
    Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
Torre Mudejar de El Salvador image
Over seven centuries after being built in the early XIVth century, the Tower of El Salvador still leaves us speechless. As it was the last tower in Teruel to be erected, it is among the esteemed landmarks that have been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1986. The Tower actually consists of two towers, one inside the other. The Almohade model was indeed kept in mind; the architects and builders were Mudéjars, who were Muslims employed by the Christians at the time From outside, we can enjoy the brick and ceramic calligraphies as well as the street at its feet, as if intending not to disturb. Inside, 122 steps lead us to three rooms whose mortar plastered walls keep charming graffiti from the time of its erection; and we keep spinning upstairs like dancing Dervishes up to the bellfry. Once there, we lean out, take our time to feel the air, listen to the whisper and watch the sunshine on the glazed ceramics, the urban tapestry of Teruel, ''The City of Towers.'' See more..

Calle Alfonso I is (also) center of Zaragoza’s big Christmas parade that takes place every year in beginning of January. 24. 4.5 Escalinata del Ovalo (660 reviews)
    - Stairway to heaven...!
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Escalinata del Ovalo image
You may travel the world but I can guarantee that you will not see a more majestic, grand and spectacular stairway than this one in Teruel. Simply called 'La Escalinata' or the staircase, it is a marvelous example of mudejar inspired architecture. Built in 1921 by Ancieto Marinas, it elevates the modest stairway in architecture to a level of inspired art. It is simply awesome. Its detailing, the placement of tiles and brickwork is stunning. As is it's relief sculpture of Teruel's storied lovers. To me it qualifies to be a permanent art installation. It may be 'just' a staircase but Do Not Miss it! See more..

Parque Faunistico - La cuniacha image
What a great location high in the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains, with jagged peaks surrounding you in all directions. In this setting you can see an impressive range of native animals like deer, lynx, bison and bears. Each group of animals have a large enclosure to wander around and the trails through the forest are rewarding to experience. Highlights for the kids were watching a bear playing in his bath, seeing a lynx way up a tall tree, and also a goat climbing a tree! I will come back again. Peter Australia See more..

I managed to book online in advance of our tour and was given details of where to report. Parking and toilets readily available. Professional guide who gave us an easy-to-use audio guide. That, plus our sufficient knowledge of Spanish made it very interesting even if we didn't understand everything that was being said. Not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs and there is a lot of standing for the 90 minute tour so wear comfortable shoes. See more..

Museo del Teatro Romano de Caesaraugusta image
It seems incredible that the Roman theatre of Zaragoza was only discovered in the 1970´s having been buried under urban development after the fall of the Roman empire. This museum displays the remains of the theatre and in the museum traces the history of the site under Moorish and then Jewish residential areas. This is all very interesting and although the theatre is in ruins, the museum displays bring it to life. See more..

    - Fascinating
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Art Museums
    Museo Goya Coleccion Ibercaja image
The building it is housed in is impressive. There was a temporary Botero exhibition too. I wasn’t aware of this artist but quite liked some of the works. On the first floor there is art preceding Goya. I liked some of this. The next level was a mixture of Goya paintings and the engravings. I really liked the engravings. They had a description in English lit up every time you stepped in front of one. There were so many interesting engravings. This was my favourite part of the museum. I did like the paintings too and not just the Goya ones. I wasn’t sure whether to bother with the 3rd floor as I’m not normally into “artists inspired by” but I’m so glad I did. This part had some beautiful art works. I went through parts of this twice. Reasonably priced, there wasn’t a queue when I went in and it’s a great gallery to wander around. I spent about 2 hours there. See more..

Even though construction began in the early 1400s, it has been refurbished in the meantime. For example the four stately lions were only added in 1991. Said lions are a fabulous addition, one standing sleek sentinel in each corner. Marvellous robust stone work is the distinguishing feature. From along it grand vistas of the river and city including Cathedral and spires are there to be seen. See more..

If you come to this area, you have to do this walk; waterfalls, crystal clear pools of water, a deep canyon, trees and flowers. It's worth paying for, and the fee probably stops it from getting overcrowded. The track is well maintained, but not good for anyone who has trouble with stairs or severe vertigo. Don't miss the prehistoric paintings (signposted). Free WiFi at the car park. See more..
  36. 4.0 Castillo de Valderrobres (431 reviews)
    - Very interesting guided visit
    Wednesday: 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM Castles
    Castillo de Valderrobres image
Castillo de Valderrobres is the main castle of the homonymous town, which is located in the East part of Aragon, in Teruel region, close to the border with Catalonia. It was built about 12th Century, but it was refurbished sometimes until 18th Century to transform a place of defense to a residence of bishop. We did a guided visit, which was really very interesting and we learned a lot about the history of the place and we could see almost all rooms of the castle. In the visit, you can see some expositions, views of the surroundings and go up to the highest point of the castle. Very interesting guided visit! Also, the staff was very friendly with us and my daughter. These people are exaggerating with their “siesta”. It is awful, everything is closed in the afternoon! Huesca doesn’t have many things to offer but this cathedral which I couldn’t even get in! However, it is a nice building, I find it has more character than other overrated ones like the one in Girona. Nice details on the façade, looks warm and welcoming but with all the sadness, this is all I can say. See more..

    Fountains
    Fuente de la Hispanidad image
Honestly I spend quite long time trying to understand HOW does contour of the fountain remind Latin America... I walked around this place over and over again! But when finally I realised that not only upper part the water flows from should be concidered, but the fountain's bowls as well it all came to me! Of course! The grey rock water falls from is just a beginning and to get the complete picture you have to include the pool in front of the fountain! This is South America indeed! The idea is very unusual and brilliant! Thanks for new experiance, Zaragoza! See more..

Catedral Santa María de la Huerta Tarazona image
What makes the cathedral standout from many other Mudejar places of worship is the historical preservation work and the excellent presentation of the artefacts discovered during that process. The history of the building is traced from its origins through to current times with many period artefacts on display. Clear, concise and very interesting. Congratulations Catedral Santa de la Huerta on a presentation of works that is both different and significantly more engaging than the majority of other religious sites See more..

I have done a separate review of the cathedral. Access to the tapestry museum is part of your cathedral entrance price. The stunning tapestries are worth a visit on their own, and I make the point that touring the cathedral can be quite tiring and I would advise starting with the tapestries. Three rooms of huge hung tapestries. Explanations in English with a free handset. See more..

A permanent feature in what used to be the Central Market square of Huesca, La Confianza delicatessen is a visit I always make when in town. Sometimes looking at their shop windows is enough to fill you with wonder. Once inside you are immersed in a world known to our great grandparents and the following generations. Look up to the amazing ceiling and let your eyes wonder over the shelves and counter. You can get the best local wines, olives, pulses, dried and salted cod, traditional sweets and a great variety of local products. More recently they have opened up the beautiful basements as a restaurant that you can book for family or group celebrations. Check it out when you visit Huesca! See more..

  47. 4.5 Patio de la Infanta (314 reviews)
    - So well worth a visit
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Patio de la Infanta image
The Patio de la Infanta has such a rich history, originally owned by a wealthy nobleman who had the patio constructed for his wife to honour their marriage in the mid 16th century. Over time the owners of the residence changed hands and then unfortunately in 1894 a fire destroyed the building and it was left in ruins. The house was demolished and in 1904 the patio was sold to an antique dealer in Paris who had it reconstructed in his Parisian home. In 1958 it was bought back by the savings Bank of Zaragoza and since 1980 it has been housed inside the central headquarters of Ibercaja. Opening times are limited: Mon-Fri 0900-11330 and 1800-2100 Sat, Sun and Public Holidays 1100-1400 and Sat 1800-2100. It is free to enter and absolutely worthwhile locating, it is stunning to view. Visited this museum based on a recommendation of a friend (whose parents had a picture of Gargallo’s work Gran Profeta adorning her birth announcement). I’m so glad I had the opportunity to see the incredible works of this multi-talented talented artist. In addition to sculptures, there are casts, sketches, prints and cardboard works. The building itself, Argillo Palace, dates back to the mid-1600’s. The multi-level courtyard with its arched windows and pillars is a highlight. The museum is located in a lovely square in the heart of historic Zaragoza. See more..
