Castillo de Loarre, Aragon, Spain

Beautifully preserved Lombard castle

Very well preserved castle with many rooms to explore. Tours are ONLY in Spanish (the website suggests other languages are available, but this is not true). You can download an audio guide, but it relies on a good mobile signal, which cut out several times as we self toured the castle; we found it hard therefore to work out where we were and what we were looking at. Despite that the castle is well worth the visit due to its excellent state of preservation. Plenty of parking- not accessible without a vehicle. The ticket includes a visit to Bolea church (well worth it if you can) and San Lorenzo. I would recommend you download the (more limited) guide in your chosen language BEFORE arrival. The famous dog is first turn on the right as you enter (easily missed)

    Beautiful castle
This 11th century romanesque castle is just beautiful inside and out and offers some amazing views. They filmed " The Kingdom of Heaven" here. There is a car park right next to the castle, a little café and souvenir shop.

    A Castle not to Miss
This is one of the most amazing castles I've ever visited. I had a great time walking around, exploring and taking photos. OK, so the tours are only in Sapnish, but I was provided with a free leaflet in English, giving some background history and a key to help me identify where I was. Most Spanish people had abandoned their tour guide, and more than one was keen to borrow my leaflet. Views are amazing, and a visit is well worth the money ( currently E5.50). Incidentally, if you are on a walking tour ( as I was) the ticket office allows you to leave your rucksack there, free of charge. There are also free toilets.
