  1. 4.5 Ciudadela De Jaca (1.075 reviews)
    - The must-see location in Jaca
    Wednesday: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Military Museums • Castles • History Museums
    Ciudadela De Jaca image
The citadel of Jaca dates from the 16th century, a star-shaped fortress that houses a fantastic military miniatures museum, a museum dedicated to special forces and a remarkable collection of military art. It's also worth wandering around the battlements and staring down at the deep moat to try and spot the deer. Allow about 90 minutes to take in everything that it has to offer. See more..
  2. 4.5 Castillo de Loarre (701 reviews)
    - Beautifully preserved Lombard castle

    Castillo de Loarre image
Very well preserved castle with many rooms to explore. Tours are ONLY in Spanish (the website suggests other languages are available, but this is not true). You can download an audio guide, but it relies on a good mobile signal, which cut out several times as we self toured the castle; we found it hard therefore to work out where we were and what we were looking at. Despite that the castle is well worth the visit due to its excellent state of preservation. Plenty of parking- not accessible without a vehicle. The ticket includes a visit to Bolea church (well worth it if you can) and San Lorenzo. I would recommend you download the (more limited) guide in your chosen language BEFORE arrival. The famous dog is first turn on the right as you enter (easily missed) See more..

    - Very interesting guided visit

    Castillo de Valderrobres image
Castillo de Valderrobres is the main castle of the homonymous town, which is located in the East part of Aragon, in Teruel region, close to the border with Catalonia. It was built about 12th Century, but it was refurbished sometimes until 18th Century to transform a place of defense to a residence of bishop. We did a guided visit, which was really very interesting and we learned a lot about the history of the place and we could see almost all rooms of the castle. In the visit, you can see some expositions, views of the surroundings and go up to the highest point of the castle. Very interesting guided visit! Also, the staff was very friendly with us and my daughter. (See also Plaza de España, Puente de Piedra Valderrobres, Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor, Conjunto Histórico de Valderrobres, Portal de San Roc, Lo Portalet - El Portal de Vergós and Casa Consistorial de Valderrobres) See more..

  6. 4.0 Castillo de Monzon (218 reviews)
    - One of the best Spanish medieval castles
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM Spent 2-3 hours Castles
    Castillo de Monzon image
A massive castle on the top of a hill in the right centre of the town of Monzon, in Aragon, near the Pyrenees and well connected to Barcelona and Zaragoza. There are parts from IX to XIII centuries, remarkably preserved, perhaps the Templar castle best preserved. Its location is amazing, it can be seen from miles. Besides authentic (totally different from fake French castles, rebuilt with spiky towers in Modern ages) it is also beautiful. For History llovers, here they happened a lot of Medieval facts, like the kidnapping of future James the first, conqueror of Valencia and Majorca, when he became orphan.... In summertime, going up walking from the city centre is hard, you can feel really hot, but the views are impressive. Take enogh water with you. And please (to the owners): please keep like it is now. Don't do fake restorations, it's really not necessary. See more..

We were passing by Teruel and read about this castle, so we decided to visit it. It is a remote location, so reaching it by car was truly an adventure. The road has several ruins and some spectacular rock formations. We were amazdd once we arrived at the castle, since it is an amazing structure and provides for great pictures! Really worth the visit! See more..
