El Parrizal, Aragon, Spain

4.5 (432 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Aragon Hiking Trails

Spectacular scenery

If you come to this area, you have to do this walk; waterfalls, crystal clear pools of water, a deep canyon, trees and flowers. It's worth paying for, and the fee probably stops it from getting overcrowded. The track is well maintained, but not good for anyone who has trouble with stairs or severe vertigo. Don't miss the prehistoric paintings (signposted). Free WiFi at the car park.

Epic! So epic, i went back 3 days later!
Love this place! What a gem. I initially scoped it out on my own, did a 2.5 hour pacey hike along the (2) wooden plank width path attached to the side of a twisty, jagged, awesome fresh gorge. It varies in height and difficulty, but in general is fine for any user of any age. Bit miffed they made it too narrow for people to cross by each other? Lol. But it zig zags along over crisp, green shimmering steadily moving rivers (I'm sure there's more than one there? Resisting attempt to Google!) and under skyscraper size seemingly loose sides of mountains, through brief caves and through dense(ish) forest.....to....not sure. I say that truthfully as i, a really able and active hiker, was unable to get to the end. Ok, an exaggeration, I'm sure if I hadn't needed to get my son from school, I could've smashed it. The track disappears what seems like maybe a few km's in? Jus turns into an awesome bouldering/hand climbing/rock sliding, adventure. And it's right outside a town. Ish. Beceite is lush, but tbh, and you can't blame them, they're cashing in on the action. This tourist hub during the summer apparently charges €8 to park a car, more for bigger vehicles! But I would whole heartedly recommend this awesomeness. Great family hike too, brought the wife, aka LeBoss back with my son Munch a few days later! Beaming sunshine. All to ourselves too. Brilliant.

    Pretty perfect parrizal
If you do this after the Vultures as we did you will have had a full day. The walk takes basically 2 hours each way with photo stops. Wear good trainers or walking boots as some of the terrain includes climbing up, around, over rocks and bolder’s. Don’t stop when the going gets tough as you are almost there, watch where people who are returning come from, it’s slightly easier. The mornings appear to be busier than the afternoons and you should be able to drive the whole way to parking 3 without meeting anyone coming towards you on the narrow single lane road. If you have a dog, watch out for processionary caterpillars at this time of year. Stunning place but exhausting as well but so worth it.
