Catedral Santa María de la Huerta Tarazona, Aragon, Spain
4.5 (397 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Province of Zaragoza Churches & Cathedrals
Spectacular!
What makes the cathedral standout from many other Mudejar places of worship is the historical preservation work and the excellent presentation of the artefacts discovered during that process. The history of the building is traced from its origins through to current times with many period artefacts on display. Clear, concise and very interesting. Congratulations Catedral Santa de la Huerta on a presentation of works that is both different and significantly more engaging than the majority of other religious sites

Historic and beautiful
One of the most historic church ive ever been; for a devoted catholic it is the first time in my life, as well as my family, that qe saw a pregnant virgin mary; remains of 13 century concilio vaticano

Interesting work in progress
Tarazona's cathedral is being renovated - a long-term project that has already taken well over two decades. In fact it was shut for about 20 years, reopening in 2011. There is still work ongoing inside, and plenty of scaffolding at the entrance, but parts of the outside that have been finished are stunning, showing the moorish influences on the architecture. No photography is allowed inside the church building itself. This is no Sagrada Familia (Barcelona) so with limited visitor numbers assisting funding it is going to be a very long time indeed before the work is finished.
