  2. 3.5 Walibi Belgium (2.255 reviews)
    - Good park, poor operations, majorly overcrowded
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Amusement & Theme Parks • Rides & Activities
    Walibi Belgium image
This is a good theme park in general but the level of overcrowding today was just ridiculous! Despite arriving before opening we had to queue over an hour past opening time to get into the park! Then in an entire day we managed to ride 8 out of 41 attractions! This is quite frankly unacceptable. To make matters worse nearly all attractions closed 1 hour before the park closing time. We missed out on so much. The park should either sell less tickets or extend opening hours, it was open only 10:00 until 18:00. The new Intamin Mega Coaster Kondaa is absolutely incredible and is by far the best ride in the park. I would visit again and I am sure I would have rated the park higher if I had actually got to go on more rides and if it wasn't so extremely overcrowded. See more..
  3. 4.0 Gare de Liege-Guillemins (2.042 reviews)
    - Architecture and Napoleon
    Architectural Buildings
    Gare de Liege-Guillemins image
The main reason why you should visit this railway station is because of its architecture. It was build by Calatrava. The same architect that build the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. There is a parking lot at the station, but rather expensive. An other reason is the temporary exposition 'Napoleon – beyond the myth'. It end on January 9th 2022. This immersive cultural adventure, covering nearly 3000 m², traces the many facets of Napoleon Bonaparte. The entry fee includes an audioguide. See more..

    Montagne de Bueren image
For sure a must see in Liege, it is strange to classify stairs as a touristic attraction but this is the best you are getting in Liege. It is worth it going upstairs, it is not that exhausting if you take some breaks to take pictures. There were many people doing fitness there as I was there so it was quite funny and interesting. Some tourists but not many. Liege is not a touristic city. See more..

    - Go for the views
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Historic Sites
    Citadelle (Citadel) image
We arrived too late in the evening to tour inside the citadel, but it was still worth the stop for the exploration available of the exterior and the amazing views from the top. We spent about an hour wandering around, looking at the views, and being impressed by the huge golden turtle. (Not sure what its meaning is, but it was fun to look at!) The citadel is very large and you can walk a lot; we took plenty of great photos looking out over the citadel itself, the city, and the confluence of the rivers (Meuse and Sambre). See more..
  11. 4.0 Grand Place (1.116 reviews)
    - Not at its best for the moment
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Grand Place image
Spending a week-end in Mons to visit an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts (BAM) we didn’t have much time to visit other sites. But of course, we headed for the cobbled Grand Place. As architecture lovers we were quite disappointed because the most interesting building, the City Hall, was clad in scaffolding and the façade was completely hidden. We also missed information boards on the major buildings. On a sunny day, the Grand Place, which is lined with cafés and restaurants with large outdoor seating areas, was very busy and rather loud. There were lots of kids playing in the water jets fountain or climbing the huge ‘I love Mons’ letters. A fitness centre had installed a large number of exercise bikes in front of the city hall and, in the evening, there was Latin dancing. See more..
  12. 4.0 Old Town of Durbuy (986 reviews)
    - An absolutely enjoyable visit
    Historic Sites • Neighborhoods
    Old Town of Durbuy image
Another a day trip with our Seniors Club and a lovely day apart for the last half hour when it poured with rain with very little options for shelter. We started with a guided tour of what is called 'The smallest city in the world'! though barely the size of a small village, which included various 'tastings' of local products. The first of which, before we left the Tourist Office , was Beer and Goat's cheese. This was followed by five or six more stops during the tour which lasted about two hours. After dinner in a restaurant on the main square we made a tour of the shops to purchase some of the local products we had sampled that morning. A fascinating place and well worth another visit by car if you don't mind narrow winding country roads. See more..
  13. 4.5 Mardasson Memorial (906 reviews)
    - Great US memorial for the US Army endeavours during the siege of Bastogne

    Mardasson Memorial image
Must see for everyone who is interesed in WW2 and the Battle of the Ardennes/Battle of the bulge Dec 1944/Jan 1945. The memorial has been overhauld, looks fresh and renewed. The gardening around is well done. For those who are able to walk, I would advise to walk the " marche de la paix " or peace walk of 8 or 16km starting from and return to the Mardasson memorial passing the small villages of Bizory and Foy, Bois de la Paix and Bois Jacques where one can still see the US fox holes that were dug during the siege of Bastogne. The walk gives you an idea how small the entanglement around the town was ( follow the blue/white/blue indicators for the walk and refreshement can be enjoyed at Bizory animalaine. See more..

This hilly area of the Citadel of Liege is hard work to get to, but you'll be rewarded with excellent views of the city below. The views from the top of Montagne de Bueren are excellent, but if you go further along to Belvédère Liège, the views are even clearer and better. There isn't much to see of the citadel and it's mostly ruins. You can still walk around and see a lot of what remains as much of it is still standing. The area has paved walking paths and is a pleasant area for a stroll. See more..

There is an additional exhibit hall for a nominal fee to see some of the treasures not normally on display. More interesting than many gothic churches in the region, as the organizers have done a great job of marking and explaining certain items. 22. 4.5 101 Airborne Museum Le Mess - Bastogne (581 reviews)
    - Nice exhibits, realistic simulation

101 Airborne Museum Le Mess - Bastogne image
We parked at the nearby train station, and then walked. It’s a block or two away. They did a really good job with the wax figures in the dioramas. Usually they look ridiculous, but these are decent. Plus, they didn’t just use mannequins like many places do. The bomb shelter simulation seemed very realistic. To the point that I would hesitate to bring kids in it, or anyone easily rattled. It is quite loud, obviously. The building this museum in is neat to see as well, especially the stairwell. See more..

The tour was okay. You could do it on your own tempo, the information, at the information boards inside, was educational. Learned a lot. The man at the counter, selling the tickets, was rude. We didn’t feel welcome. Big mouth, when we asked if we had to buy the tickets at is counter. He reacted with “did you make a reservation?” We said no, he replied “then you see I’m busty, you can wait”. He was doing nothing. That man, really should not worked there. After watching a very short video of Folon drawing a bird, the door of the museum will open automatically and you will enter the imaginative world of Folon. I hardly knew Folon before visiting the museum, but I am a fan now. Such simple but poetical drawings, paintings and sculptures. The location of the museum is also superb, in an old renovated farm in the middle of the beautiful Solvay park. I came by car and it is probably very difficult to get here by public transport. There is also a nice bistro just across the museum. Free to visit if you have a museum-pass. See more..

A historical gem. Read so much, full of pictures from old stories books, finally I managed to to see for myself. The fortress itself as an engineering achievement the canal included, the operation to seize the fortress is a story of its own. The totality of the museum display, the tours outside gives you a very authentic feeling of how a surprise para-glider infill attack can be launched and how the end-state can be achieved. As with all real stories, tragic loss of life on both sides. Witnessing the impact of the hollow charges one can only imagine how the Belgian defenders must have felt. Hospital Notre Dame de la Rose Museum image
We took a bus trip to Lessines, Belgium to see the Hospital Notre Dame à la Rose. It is a time travel back to the hospital movement which developed in Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries. The oldest document in the hospital records is a charter (June 1243) of John d’Oudenaarde (son of Alix and Arnould) allocationg 100 pounds of annual income to the hospital, a considerable amount to be taken from the estates of Maubeuge an Feignies belonging to Alix. The institution of the hospital is certainly prior to that. You must have to visit this hospital. All most all the artifacts of this hospital are still there to see including the medical and pharmaceutical collections and a vast art collections. The tour is in 6 different languages. See more..

A great route mainly in the trees and forrest track, along the babbling shallow river, through the cute cottages and gites. I can imagine in summer it is beautiful when the leaves etc are out. A great walk however. See more..
