4.5Fondation Folon(326 reviews) - Delightful museum Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
A small museum, but fun from the start. After watching a very short video of Folon drawing a bird, the door of the museum will open automatically and you will enter the imaginative world of Folon. I hardly knew Folon before visiting the museum, but I am a fan now. Such simple but poetical drawings, paintings and sculptures. The location of the museum is also superb, in an old renovated farm in the middle of the beautiful Solvay park. I came by car and it is probably very difficult to get here by public transport. There is also a nice bistro just across the museum. Free to visit if you have a museum-pass.See more..
We took a bus trip to Lessines, Belgium to see the Hospital Notre Dame à la Rose. It is a time travel back to the hospital movement which developed in Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries. The oldest document in the hospital records is a charter (June 1243) of John d’Oudenaarde (son of Alix and Arnould) allocationg 100 pounds of annual income to the hospital, a considerable amount to be taken from the estates of Maubeuge an Feignies belonging to Alix. The institution of the hospital is certainly prior to that. You must have to visit this hospital. All most all the artifacts of this hospital are still there to see including the medical and pharmaceutical collections and a vast art collections. The tour is in 6 different languages.See more..
Rops is a local artist and hero. The museum is quite fascinating bcause it is so totally unexpected, but you could say that about all of Namur. The museum was also his home and remains much as it was when he lived there; which gives it something special.See more..
4.5Plugstreet 14-18 Experience(230 reviews) - Brilliant experience. A must for all visitors to the area Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
Interpretation Centre “Plugstreet 11-18 experience” is situated close to the British Memorial in Ploegsteert. Covered with a natural carpet of greenery its semi-underground structure is topped by an elegant glass pyramid. The architectural design perfectly fits into a surrounding wooded area. “Plugstreet 14-18 experience” presents a scenographic space of some 400 sq. m. whose technological equipment aims at increasing interaction. The scenography not only brings to light the 14-18 conflict on an international scale and in a didactic manner, but also tells the visitor about its effects in the area of Comines-Warneton, which was devastated by four years of bloody fighting and deprivations. Particular attention is drawn to numerous photographs from private collections recounting how difficult it often was for civilians and armed forces to live together : Comines was a German garrison eastward ; Ploegsteert was in British hands westward and Warneton was literally cut by the front line.See more..

Let me start by saying that I was impressed with the large amount of animals they have on display. From sea creatures, to marsupials; lions and bears; birds and simians; the museum had a lot. I have never seen so many dissected animals and I really appreciate it the effort. For the first time in my life, I saw an elephant's heart. My four year old had a blast identifying the animals. It is very cheap, and will only take about an hour to enjoy the museum, depending on your walking speed.See more..

4.5Mahymobiles(67 reviews) - Worth a visit Speciality Museums
SEE A CENTURY OF AUTOMOBILE HISTORY !When Ghislain Mahy bought his first car in 1944, he had no idea that this 1921 Ford T would be the first car in a collection of more than 1000 vehicles by the year 2000. The first vehicles of the collection were stored for more than half a century in Ghent, at the old “Winter Circus” building. 230 of our mechanical gems were transported to the Brussels “Autoworld” museum in 1986, where they are still on display. The other, approximately 750, vehicles had to wait until 1997 for a new home to be found. This turned out to be the old “Ernaelsteen” factory in Leuze-en-Hainaut, where we are today. The new site is called “Mahymobiles”. This private collection, unique because of the diversity of vehicles included, shows automotive history from it’s humble beginnings at the end of the 19th century to the present day.Amble through the world history of automobiles from 1895 to the present day (300 veteran and vintage vehicles) and gain mechanical knowledge in the educational area. In other areas of Mahymobiles you will discover exceptional collections of miniature cars, historic bicycles & motorcycles, a children’s mini circuit, a gallery dedicated to the evolution of the coach building and a special display on world famous ‘raids’.Come and visit “Mahymobiles” car museum regularly, so you will be able to see for yourself the evolution and continuing expansion.See more..
