Whoever Thought Ponography Could Be Artistic?
Rops is a local artist and hero. The museum is quite fascinating bcause it is so totally unexpected, but you could say that about all of Namur. The museum was also his home and remains much as it was when he lived there; which gives it something special.

Very interesting and nice location
Rops is not a well known artist, but you might recognise some of his paintings and drawings. This museum is housed in a town house in a nice old area of Namur. There is a permanent exhibition of Rops' work and temporary exhibitions by related artists (e.g. Van Gogh when I was there). There is plenty of information about Rops' life and of course lots of examples of his work. There's also an 'erotic' section, which the museum staff will warn you about if you visit with children. The museum has a small shop where you can buy reproductions of his work, t-shirts, books, etc. All in all an interesting, well-organised visit.

Not for children
Although Rops is not for everyone, I enjoyed my visit immensely. It is always nice to find a new artist. However, because of the mature nature of his themes, I would not recommend this museum for young children, tweens, or teens.
