Impressive

A historical gem. Read so much, full of pictures from old stories books, finally I managed to to see for myself. The fortress itself as an engineering achievement the canal included, the operation to seize the fortress is a story of its own. The totality of the museum display, the tours outside gives you a very authentic feeling of how a surprise para-glider infill attack can be launched and how the end-state can be achieved. As with all real stories, tragic loss of life on both sides. Witnessing the impact of the hollow charges one can only imagine how the Belgian defenders must have felt. You can read about it, bust must see for yourselves.

    Great introduction to our tour.
    Eben-Emael was the first stop on our Maginot Line tour and an excellent introduction to what was to come and also the sheer size of these forts. Our Dutch guide Hugo was very personable and guided us expertly and set the scene for us. We weren't rushed and overall was a very pleasant experience.

    Work Team Event
    We went to Eben-Emael as a work Team building event. We did the full tour both inside and out which lasted over 4 hours as our guide was very keen to share as much information as we could absorb. An absolute must for people with an interest in World War 2 history and military tactics.
