Popular medieval castle
We were here on a Sunday and it was very busy but not too crowded inside. It’s stone, dark and had tunnels that weren’t too tall so it makes us glad that we don’t live in that period. There were nice views over the countryside from the tower. A highlight is the Falconery show. It wasn’t in English so we missed the commentary and jokes but it was very entertaining. The man and his assistant showed about ten birds doing various different flying skills, including some owls and and eagle. There’s a small parking lot at the top of the hill in front of the entrance otherwise it is a hike uphill.

A Chateau, a history, a great location
The Chateau has the advantage of size, history and the falconry. Despite COVID restrictions the tour through the buildings gave a good sense of the building and allowed views of the location that explained how the site had been chosen. A visit to the archaeological exhibition afterwards meant more after seeing the castle allowing a potted appreciation of the history. The Falconry was in french and dutch and was great teamwork between two capable people that obviously relished working with the variety of birds. Humour, care and an understanding that birds needed to be seen close to as well as in flight. Well worth the visit.
