    - State Park that is well worth the stay

We were visiting Lander to attend a conference. When looking to book a room, everything was out of rooms. We chose to stay at the state park instead of doing the drive to Riverton. We got a yurt for two days. It was fabulous. The downside is that we were going to a conference for two straight days, so not having a shower was less than convenient. Luckily we had a friend who loaned us a portable shower. It slipped is to rinse out head and limbs so we were reasonably presentable to others. The park is great for hiking, biking and climbing. If you get a yurt...then it's great to just be lazy. The springtime river was a fabulous all-natural white noise machine. Too bad we had to get up in time to make it to the conference breakfast. I think this is a little known gem of a state park in Wyoming. If you enjoy the outdoors, by all means find a way there and enjoy. See more..
  3. 4.5 Buffalo Bill State Park (133 reviews)
    - North Fork Campground

    Buffalo Bill State Park image
The scenery is the best we have found in over a year. The rock walls that surround the campground are beautiful, especially at sunset/sunrise. They keep the grass well-watered but there is no water at the campsites so you need to fill up when entering the campground. See more..
  4. 4.5 Bear River State Park (129 reviews)
    - The Best Amenity in the City of Evanston is Bear River State Park.

    Bear River State Park image
The Bear River Greenway going through Bear River State Park is the best thing to do in the city of Evanston, Wyoming. It is a concrete path that takes you along the riparian areas of the Bear River. It also gives you the opportunity to see Bison and some Trophy Bull Elk that are being ranched along the trail. Wild animals are available to see in mother nature itself including Moose and Deer. There is a lot of Bird life as well. I have seen Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, Sandhill Cranes, varieties of ducks, geese, Hawks and numerous song birds I don't know the names of. I have fished the river and caught cutthroat trout out of it. I have also seen muskrat, beaver, rabbits, and more. There are restrooms along the trail for convenience and the place is good for people of all ages to walk and relax. There are benches and picnic tables available. Great place to exercise, explore, and view wildlife. See more..

  6. 4.5 Guernsey State Park (74 reviews)
    - Great CCC historical sites
    State Parks
    Guernsey State Park image
Guernsey State Park provides seven campgrounds. Five are around the lake. All campgrounds include comfort stations, picnic tables, fire grills and drinking water. We also have a trailer dump station located at the south entrance to Guernsey State Park. This park provides the finest examples of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) work in the Rocky Mountain area. Built by the CCC, the Guernsey Museum, the Castle and Brimmer Point are available to explore. The museum is perched on a high cliff, overlooking the water. The building itself is made of hand hewn timbers and hand forged iron. The roof is framed with the timbers and covered with split cedar shakes, and the floors were formed by pieces of smooth flagstone. The Castle, with its giant fireplace and winding steps, leads to an observation area for a spectacular view of the park.An extensive network of trails was originally planned and partially built during the operation of the CCC camps. Ever since that time hiking and trail use has been a major feature at Guernsey State Park. Approximately ten miles of CCC trails have been restored on the park. Starting point for the trail system is at the Brimmer Point turnoff. The trail system consists of several loops which provide a variety of scenic views of the park, reservoir and the dam. Most of the trails are moderately physically demanding. The Oregon Trail was one of the primary routes used by the immigrants' westward migration across the plains from 1841 to 1869. Today, in many parts of Wyoming, remnants of The Oregon Trail can still be seen. Some of the best examples are the "ruts"; located just 1/2 mile south of the town of Guernsey, off Highway 26.Register Cliff located two miles southeast of Guernsey provided travelers with a "chalkboard" where they placed their names for those who followed. The landmark still remains much the way it looked to pioneers on wagon trains journeying West. See more..
  7. 4.0 Keyhole State Park (56 reviews)
    - If you don’t mind the sound of constant generators, stay here for the view!
    State Parks
    Keyhole State Park image
Excellent spot (ProngHorn loop #4) Right on the water. 3 stars because of the atmosphere. Generators running all hours of the night. People left their dogs chained to their RVs while they went out (on boats??) for hours. No respect for quiet hours with music on loud speakers. We camped in a pop up tent trailer and we were looking forward to leaving the noise of the streets and enjoy nature. Completely impossible when there are no less than 7 generators going all night and start at 6 am. The view from our campsite was beautiful and we had great fishing right off the shore. But I wouldn’t stay here again because of the atmosphere. See more..

Amazing park with huge reservoir and campgrounds. Take the time to hit west loops your won't regret it. We were only ones there. It's a drive and watch to free range cows on the ride. It's really worth the ride. East side by dam is pretty too through the mountains. See more..
  9. 4.5 Edness K. Wilkins State Park (9 reviews)
    - Do you ever feel as if you read one you read them all?

Edness K. Wilkins State Park image
I feel that way a lot at times. When you question a place and all you see is very positive reviews and remarks. Is there any negatives about it? What should of been? Lollipops are not given out but this is a great place where you could enjoy one. Lol.. If you like walking, looking at the wonderful sights that are there and a chance to see some wildlife of different species and the sounds of water then this is the walk for you. Many trails to walk and peaceful water and sounds is what you'll find. Maybe deer, birds, rabbits, fish, squirrels the list goes on and on. Maybe the reason no one writes about the bad is because there really is none. Lol Life is what you make of it not the first number or the last but the dash in the middle. Live your dash exploring, with looking, hearing and feeling all the greatness life has to offer. You only go around once live it with no regrets but live it and see a state park today. Enjoy, I did. 10. 3.5 Seminoe State Park (7 reviews)
    - Camping here is not for everyone
    State Parks • Parks
    Seminoe State Park image
We camped at South Red Hills. Since the campground was limited to reservations from Wyoming residents, it definitely limited the number of people camping there. This factor may color my review. The site itself was fairly undeveloped: pit toilets, no electricity, few trees, several sites with pavilions. There were a few surprises: a playground and a boat launch which seemed to be getting used. There were also quiet hours from 10PM to 6AM, which were observed. I did not see a store anywhere nearby, so make sure you have what you need or do without. The wind can definitely be a factor here, so do consider that. I definitely would not say it's the best place I've camped as there didn't seem to be any pleasant hiking near, but it could be just the place if you have a boat. See more..
