My day of snowmobiling with guides Kade and Hannah and the Little Jennie Ranch was absolutely spectacular. The tour took me from the ranch headquarters through the sparkling and powdery fields to the woods crossing the clearest and cleanest creeks I have ever seen to their historic hunting cabin where snacks and warm beverages were served. This outfit is professional, competent and fun, and the scenery is probably some of the finest in the world. This place is the real deal. Galloping across the prairie with manes and tails flying and hooves kicking up dust, there is nothing more iconic in the West than a wild horse. Whether you spot them racing like the wind, clustered around a waterhole or grazing contentedly, wild horses evoke a bit of the Old West, erasing the 21st and 20th centuries and shuttling you back to the 1800's. One of the best spots to see wild horses is in southwestern Wyoming, just a tad north of Rock Springs on a landscape of sagebrush and rock. Here on the mesa like summit of White Mountain, the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop skitters roughly 23 miles along good, gravel based roads. Most are descendants of horses long ago turned out by the regions ranchers and reflect on the area's geography and history. This is an amazing sight to see.See more..

My husband and I did the OTR last August. We are from MN and most of our riding is on wooded trailers, up and down but not real steep. We so enjoyed the open country of Wyoming as a change in riding - also the hills are much, much steeper! The trail bosses, drag rider, and camp crew could not have been nicer. And the food - lets just say no one, even the horses lost weight on this trip! Every evening we had land owners or someone who talked to us about the history of the ride and the land, never dull. You meet so many new people, making lasting friendships with some, and riders come from all over the country. Would we do it again - YES - did we have a great time - YES - would we recommend it to others - YES - we do all the time. Just go ready to ride, you are in the saddle by 8am every morning.See more..

5.0Alpine Outdoors(1 review) - Simply THE Best!!!! Horseback Riding Tours We arranged a trail ride into the National Forest with Alpine Outdoors. WOW!!! I cannot rave enough about the company, our guide , the horses or the incredible beauty we rode in. DO NOT MISS THIS!!! If you go to Jackson or Alpine WY call Robb and Brenda Wiley and go out with their horses. Heidi was our guide and she was fabulous. My 11 year old daughter had never been on a horse before and Heidi and the horse she chose for her made the experience wonderful. These a some big horses; draft cross breeds. Every one of the horses were so responsive and calm that you hardly had to direct them at all. The weather the day we went started out "iffy", so Brenda called us early but didn't get us so Heidi followed up with a second call. Then, although we were supposed to drive to them, Heidi offerred to drive over to pick us up and take us on a trail we did not expect (as it is usually done on longer rides; we booked a half day). What increditble customer service! We picked up our lunch (which also was incredible when we ate it) and drove for about 30 minutes and started out on the trail. Rode for over an hour to a magnificant mountain lake, rested the horses and ate lunch. The weather held until about 5 minutes before we got back to the truck and trailer. At that point the rain was refreshing. I can only say good things about Alpine Outdoors and cannot recommend them highly enough.See more..
