Built by the Army 1875 to provide reliable and safe passage over the North Platte River and located near Fort Laramie, this is nice stop either before or after visiting the fort. I found this to be a peaceful place to walk across the arching three-span bowstring truss bridge, enjoy the river, and contemplate the many famous and ordinary people that crossed the bridge going to and from Fort Laramie. One can also hike the 1.6 mile (2.6k) Confluence Trail that loops about the confluence of the Laramie and North Platte rivers. See more..
