5.0Dubois Scenic Overlook(16 reviews) - Best short drive or fitness climb to a world-class view Spent < 1 hour Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
When the team from Google and UC Berkeley chose Dubois as the headquarters for their project to film the 2018 eclipse, they went to the top of the Scenic Overlook for the view. You can get there too, and easily, by driving up the dirt road on the north side of the highway just west of the Town Park. Or you can take a more challenging route by hiking up from the highway and then taking the trail from the mid-level (a popular workout for locals). Either way, when you get to the top you achieve a spectacular view of the town below, the badlands to the east, and the Wind River and Absaroka Mountains to the west. Here, by the way, you can see all four mountain-building processes (glacial, volcanic, and tectonic) from one location. It's also a wonderful place to go to orient yourself if you're staying in the area for a while.See more..

4.0Paul Stock Nature Trail(10 reviews) - Wonderful nature trail along Shoshone river Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
We found this trail after several visits to Cody. It is a 1.5 mile walk along the Shoshone river in downtown Cody but is not well known by tourists. You turn off the main street at Irmas and go down to River View Drive, turn left along Spruce Drive through a residential area, and the parking lot is at the end. It is a lovely hiking/biking trail which runs along the top of the river and then goes right down to the river itself with lots of beautiful views, as well as many benches where you can sit. On the morning we did the walk we saw mule deer (as well as a mother and a bambi drinking at the river), many songbirds and even a garter snake, as well as loads of wildflowers. It was also so very quiet and nice to get away from the tourists in town. The walk can be extended as there are many dirt tracks running all along the river extending on from the main trail.See more..
