He provided a fantastic Battlefield Study covering the battle for Arnhem; from DZ landing through to British withdrawal/capture. His ability to cater for and mould his delivery to his audience was over and above any previous Battlefield Study's I have attended. Being an Artillery unit, the nuances and focus he brought to that area of the battle was fantastic and very much appreciated. I would jump at the chance to attend another Battlefield Explorer Tour in the future. Edwin had done considerable research in advance of where my father's unit had been which together with his detailed knowledge of the overall battlefield actions brought the whole experience to life. In the afternoon we went from point to point following exactly where my father had been in 1944 culminating in identifying the exact buildings where his unit had had it's field hq and from where he had been in action against a German patrol. You will then see a farmyard of about 2,600 years ago. For Schools we have a nice program that fits in well with the curriculum of the history lessons on prehistoric times. After a short introduction about prehistory and of course the Iron Age. We also welcome groups on other days and outside the opening months. We did a 2-day Operation Market Garden tour and a trip to this museum was included in the itinerary. The museum itself is not a very large museum, but what makes it nice is the fact that it is packed with original items used not only during Market Garden, but throughout the war. I liked the various scenes that were staged with mannequins and so forth that depicted how life was during the war. Plenty of maps and placards throughout the museum showing how Operation Market Garden unfolded. One neat feature is that you get to sit in the fuselage of a C-47. Several military vehicles are located outside of the museum too. Again, this was part of a guided tour, so I didn't get to spend as much time in the museum if I were doing it on my own. This is a fairly large, by Dutch standards, National Park set in an unusual area of freshwater tidal wetlands, close to the city of Dordrecht. We spent an afternoon walking some of the many paths that criss-cross their way around the park and enjoyed seeing a wide variety of wildlife, from rabbits to frogs and of course innumerable types of waterfowl and other birds such as lesser spotted woodpeckers. Common sightings included grey herons, grebes, two types of egret and a few terns hovering and diving into the water. There are plenty of paths ideal for exploring by bike and we saw a fair few people out on the water in kayaks, which would no doubt give a different perspective to the park. We did try to keep our eyes out for signs of beaver activity, but had no luck on that front, so a return trip is on the cards. See more..

The Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is located at the Markt in the centre of Eindhoven. The large hall is hexagon-shaped and has 1,250 seats. The small hall has 400 seats. The concert hall was completely renovated in 2010. We visited the Muziekgebouw for a piano concert on a Wednesday in late spring. Pianist Grigory Sokolov (1950) played Beethoven’s ‘Variations & Fuga’, Brahms’s ‘Three Intermezzi’ and Schumann’s ‘Kreisleriana Fantasies’. The concert was almost sold-out. The audience is mainly boomers. Sokolov resides in Italy and regularly tours Europe. He appeared correctly in full evening dress and walks like an aged professor. His performance was impressive. Beethoven was played in Steinway style, rather hard. Quite a different with Andres Schiff some weeks earlier in the Concertgebouw with a pianoforte. We found Sokolov to be professional and playing very well. The audience was enthusiast and let him go only after 6 encores. See more..

My daughters and I went on the zip wire here, but the safety system is very dangerous. When a person isn’t unclipped from the zip wire even though he is on the platform and out of the way he gets dragged back to the wire once the next person gets on and the two collide mid air. This is the only ‘go ape’ like place where this is the case. On the longest zip wire of the red course my 9 year old went first and landed safely on the platform the other side. She disappeared behind the tree on the platform. I waited a while but couldn’t see her so I went. She wasn’t able to unclip herself though and there was no one there to help her. Also the fact nobody told us in the briefing is that once a person isn’t unclipped you get dragged back out and collide. We have done these parks in the uk and in France and once you are on the platform you are safe. You DO NOT get dragged back. I collided with my daughter mid air and her neck is in agony. One of the scariest moments of my life. This place should be shut down!!!! Very dangerous. Do not go there. See more..
