Tamme Dirks (with his assistant) arrangenges walks for families out to a mussel bank during low water. We were about 80 people in the Group (about 30 children and 50 adults) but it was no problem since he and his assistant held the Group together very well. During the walk he showed and told us a lot of interesting things that you can find on the sea bottom (like crabbs, sea worms and so on). I strongly recommend this walk. However, remember three things: 1) He guides in German, so to get the most of the walk you need to have at least a basic understanding of German. 2) His guided walks are popular, so book your place on a walk in advance. Do not just pressume that there will be place for you and your family… we booked two Days in advance and could take part, but there was at least 20-30 people who had not booked and had to become disapointed because they didn`t fit on the walk. So, book in advance. 3) You walk on the bottom of the sea… it will be muddy. There is also sharp mussel parts and stones on the bottom… so have good boots or swimshoes and Count on it that your cloths will get muddy. The walk is planned for children, so it is not very hard. But you walk on soft ground for about 2 hours. So, you need to have a basic condition.See more..

Absolut empfehlenswert!!! Am Wochenende haben wir eine geführte Eselwanderung mit Sonja und ihren Eseln mitgemacht und sind total begeistert!
Nach einer herzlichen Begrüßung auf der Koppel machte uns Sonja gleich mit Bella, Peppi, Felix und dem Pony Dakota bekannt. Neugierig kamen die Tiere näher und buhlten schon bald durch Anstupsen und Körperkontakt um unsere Aufmerksamkeit.
Nachdem wir uns dann nach dem Kennenlernen und Putzen der Tiere beide für einen Esel entschieden hatten, ging es auch schon hinein in die wunderschöne Heidelandschaft. Schnell merkt man, ob man Führungsqualitäten hat oder einem der Esel versucht, auf der Nase herumzutanzen :-)
Ziel der 3,5 stündigen Tour war ein herrliches Garten-Café. Hier konnten wir bei einem Stück Apfelkuchen unsere grasenden Esel beobachten.
Für Klein und Groß eine tolle Erfahrung!! Wir kommen ganz sicher wieder!See more..

Martina Rieken is the life and soul of this mud flats walk. I had last done this type of walk on the North Sea coast when I was six years old and thought I‘ll do it again as an adult! Martina guided a large group with loads of children equipped with a large pitch fork where once out “at sea” between the coastal point where the ferries leave for the island of Borkum half way to the East Frisian islands, she started digging for mud worms. I wore brand new red socks which were so muddy at the end I had to wash them at least ten times to get the mud out. Some people went bare foot but most Germans were equipped with rubber “shoes”. The start of the walk was a little tricky through quite deep mud which was extremely slippery. Pity there weren’t any shells or muscles or crabs. So the mud worm was the highlight.
