Hahnenklee is a small town in Saxony. The wooden church is at the edge of town towards the mountain. There is a carillon next to, but detached from the church. The photos show, especially the ones taken inside, what a jewel it is. About 200 metres from the church is a cable car service that runs from the centre of the town up the mountain. This is accessible by wheel chair but I'm not sure if it would be suitable for the infirm. A chair lift has recently been built but when we where there it wasn't yet in service. At the top is a decent little café. Also there is a mechanical bob sleigh run. Looked good, but not for me though.See more..
4.0Marktkirche(249 reviews) - Beauty in Bricks. Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
The Marktkirche (Market Church) dates back to the 14th century and was built in Gothic Brick Style. The original church was destroyed during the WWII and rebuilt during the early 50’s of the 20th century. Also the interior is completely in brickwork, the main altar is awesome. Admission is free, although a (small) donation will aways be appreciated.See more..
4.5St. Michaelis(179 reviews) - Totally restored and amazing Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Churches & Cathedrals
We felt as if we stepped back in time. After being leveled in 1945, this cathedral has been totally restored to it's original splendor. We walked to the top of the bell tower and saw beautiful views of Hildesheim . If your out of shape, don't go up, my thighs were on fire just halfway up!See more..

4.5St. Lamberti Church(86 reviews) - The Heart of the heart Architectural Buildings • Churches & Cathedrals
The church was being built between 1155 and 1234 and it had to undergo a lot of modifications. In 1790 it was completely transformed into the current rotunda stylebasilica, based on the Pantheon in Rome.See more..
Beautiful cathedral from the exterior. Interesting interior as well, almost similar with most cathedral in Germany. Every cathedral has its own gems.See more..
St. Nicolai is not the central church of Lüneburg, but just a short walk aways from main church St. Johannis. The walk takes you through picturesque streets, and you might make a little stop at the old crane. When you enter St. Nicolai, you will be impressed by its beautiful ceiling, painted in white with gold decoration. A fabulous contrast with the red brick. If you get lucky, someone practices the organ. Surrounded by old builidng which were part of the church, St. Nicolai is a place that breathes serenity. Definetively worth a trip!See more..

4.0Jakobikirche(34 reviews) - Inside find a Pieta carved from wood from the 1500's. Churches & Cathedrals
This was a beautiful church and the only Catholic church in town, as well as the oldest. Not ornate, not too much decor, but simple, and very calming. Especially interesting is a Pieta carved from wood from the 1500's. The Baroque altar, side altars, and other wood carvings are exceptional. Worth a walk through.See more..
4.5St. Jacobikirche(32 reviews) - Cool bird's-eye view and quiet beauty of the architecture Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
For me this was one of the top sights in GÖ. The architecture of pillars, famous colorful windows, interesting altar and organ were just a beginning of my admiration of this religious beauty. I wasn't afraid to climb those stairs and ladders to the top of the tower and the view was absolutely gorgeous!!! On the way down, I was tinkled by the big bells' sound. Awesome!!!See more..

4.0Magnikirche(27 reviews) - Church that is also a Theatre. Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
Originally consecrated in 1031 AD, the parish church was built in 1252. The only portion from that time that remains is in the foundation. The "Magnus Bell" dates from 1335 and is the oldest bell in the region. The building was restored in the 1870's but was heavily damaged in WWII, and then re-dedicated in 1964. Today it has an active congregation. Very beautiful.See more..
4.5Kirche Greetsiel(25 reviews) - Love the Architecture, Cute Little Church Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
I loved walking the streets of Greetsiel and loved seeing the little church. I was here on a rainy day, my photos turned out awesome of the church. Not sure if you can enter or not as I did not try. I felt walking by and seeing it was enough. I really like the red brick architecture around Greetsiel. I suggest at least seeing the church if in Greetsiel.See more..
4.5Ludgeri-Kirche Norden(25 reviews) - Arp Schnitger organ in Norden Churches & Cathedrals
This is the 2nd largest Arp Schnitger organ and the largest to survive WWII completely intact. It is considered of international standard both in appearance as well as musically and when we heard a performance, we both appreciated and concurred with that description. Although almost 350 years old, it is quite astonishing to hear and worth the visit to this very pretty little town.See more..
This catholic church is very interesting and has a beautiful yet unusual architecture. Entering via a metal door, you get into an open inner area, a bit like a round court. In there, they celebrate during summer times, even though there are not many Catholics on the island (mostly visitors). The inner-room of the church is also round and reached via a second door. In there, they have their service in the winter time. Here especially the wooden roof is interesting, but also the glass windows are beautiful.See more..
5.0Marienkirche(22 reviews) - Study Abroad Group Visit-University Students Very Impressed Churches & Cathedrals
We visited is a study abroad girl. The students are you from universities in the United States and China. The age of the building really impressed many of the students in the fact that it was the first Germany built specifically for the protestant religion was very interesting as well. The building is well-kept, and has appointments that are very interesting. There are angels all over, 3-D relief, and the crypt. The narrator was very informative about the history of the building and the part it played throughout history. This is definitely worth the stop. But does require some pre-planning with those who care for it.See more..
4.5St Godehard Church(22 reviews) - Beautiful church Saturday: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM Churches & Cathedrals
St Godehard's Church is an unspoiled gem of Romanesque architecture that gives a good idea of what the bombed, and now rebuilt, churches must have originally been like.I loved the tranquility and peace of the church and the thought that this has been a place of worship for so long. Add this to your tour of churches in Hildesheim.See more..
4.5Basilika St. Cyriakus(19 reviews) - Lovely church Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
For a country town this is an amazing church. Beautiful interior, magnificent organ and statues. Unfortunately could not get up on the mezzanine floor for photos. See more..
We didn't get a chance to worship here, but even taking a few minutes to step inside and see this church is worth it. There's nothing spectacular to see, but it's nonetheless a church with a solid, old feel to it. And judging from the displays I saw in windows downtown, the new pastor seems to be reaching out to the community.See more..
Baltrum is a place to relax, to be. So is the Inselkirche. Constructed with simple bricks, high ceiling, big windows, spartan interior. Here we enjoyed two worship service in German with simple liturgical elements, singing of old hymns. Parallel to the worship service there was Sunday school for the children. The Islanders welcomed us warmly and wished us a refreshing vacation on their island. Definitely a place to go to for quietness and solitude.See more..

5.0Katholische Kirche St. Peter(8 reviews) - Ein Segel Gottes in den Dünen ... Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
See more..
4.5Lutherkirche(8 reviews) - Beautiful little church Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
This church is placed a way from the tourists attractions. I saw its towers from distance and was curious but was so tired after whole afternoon walking in the town that I almost decided not to go. I am so glad I changed my mind in the end. Although it is a small church thanks to its location on the top of hill it looks somewhat majestic. Interior is richly decorated and very nice. But I mostly enjoyed and couldn't get enough observing it from outside walking around and taking pictures.See more..

See more..

4.0Kleine Kirche(7 reviews) - Next to the Osnabrücker Dom is a small church, the "Kleine Kirche" Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
The small church next to the imposing Dom of Osnabrück is indeed called "the Small Church" (Die Kleine Kirche). This church exists already for more than 300 years and is dedicated to St. Paul. It's a Catholic church and the congregation is separate from the congregation of the neighboring Dom of Osnabrück. It is the contrast between the two churches that is striking.See more..
See more..

4.0St. Johannis Church(6 reviews) - More a fortress than a Church. Churches & Cathedrals
The Gothic Church of John the Baptist is built on the basis of the Romanesque Basilica. The first mention of it dates back to 1272. The huge towers were completed only in the XIV century. The 62-meter high North tower was a dwelling, while the South tower was used as a clock tower and bell tower. The reformation made the Church Lutheran in 1529 and the destruction of all decorations in 1544. In addition to the reformation, the Church survived allied raids and arson by teenagers in 2005.See more..
