  1. 5.0 Plaza de Espana (44.5k reviews)
    - Some of Star Wars was Filmed Here

    Plaza de Espana image
We visited Plaza de Espana twice while we lived in Spain. The first time was on a Monday in April 2021 and the place was not busy at all! The second time, at the end of July/beginning of August, it was MUCH busier. It's much hotter this time of year but it does seem to be when everyone has the time off! We enjoyed watching a few people dance (they of course pass around a hat for money). There's not much to actually do in the Plaza but plenty of pretty photo ops! Part of the building was used in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, where Anakin and Padmé arrive on Naboo. Granted it was 5 years ago but apparently in 2018, Plaza de Espana in Seville was TripAdvisor's #2 top landmark of the year! See more..
  2. 4.0 Setas de Sevilla (Metropol Parasol) (9.989 reviews)
    - Simply extraordinary!
Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 12:00 AM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
Setas de Sevilla (Metropol Parasol) image
A ‘must do’ architectural building being the largest wooden structure in the world. The box office is in the basement of the structure where you can also see the Roman remains uncovered when excavating the site for the building. The price for entry varies during the day by a few euros with evenings apparently being the most expensive as visitors ascend to the roof to watch the sunset and the ever changing coloured lights come on to illuminate the building. Discounted ‘pensionista’ entry tickets are available for seniors on production of photo ID – TOP TIP Always have a photocopy of your passport with you rather than your actual passport which you can leave in your hotel safe. There is a gift shop on the exit route that features more stylish (and expensive) ‘art’ objects than found in your normal attraction site. NOTE -For those troubled by heights, there are no ‘sheer drop’ views as there is always part of the roof below the very sturdy metal walkway. See more..

First visit to Nerja for us and this spot is just stunning. Gorgeous in the morning, so tranquil and beautiful when all lit up on a night time. Sometimes there is street entertainment, while we were there there was an artist, who was amazing, a young girl playing a harp and other musicians and other nights. Gorgeous place. See more..
  4. 4.5 Puerto de Malaga (6.670 reviews)
    - Nice walk and area to pass the time.
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks
    Puerto de Malaga image
This is a very nice stretch to stroll along and take in the views and sights. We walked along the Paseo de Los Curas and found lots of cafes, restaurants and shops as well as street performers - singers, dancers and acrobats. There is a 'roof', of sorts, that does give a light bit of shade during hot and sunny days and there is a panoramic view of the harbour with its yachts and bigger ships. It does get very busy especially when the cruise ships are visiting. See more..
  5. 4.5 Historic Centre of Cordoba (3.784 reviews)
    - Memorable City
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Historic Centre of Cordoba image
We visited on a Tuesday in November and it was not crowded at all. The trick is to get there early. If you are at this place by 9:30AM on a week day, you will be able to enjoy all it has to offer with minimal tourist interference. On weekends all bets are off… you maybe shoulder to shoulder with other tourists after 10AM. The narrow cobblestone streets are charming and well taken care of. The city is clean and safe, and there are a variety of shops, cafes, cafe shops, and restaurants to satisfy an array of desires. The staff at all tourist attractions we visited were kind and helpful. Cordoba is definitely one of our favorites in Andalusia. We will be back… See more..

Great restaurants with outdoor seating the area is just perfect for taking in the sights. - One of the best beaches in Spain
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Playa Victoria image
Playa Victoria is one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches in Cádiz despite being right by the city. Even though I live in London, I always come back here every year where I also used to spend my younger years. The beach has changed for the better and hasn't lost any charm. It's clean with fine white sand, clear blue waters, ample spaces to relax and bathe. Good emergency and lifeguarding services, and plenty of restaurants and bars alongside the promenade. No need to go to the Caribbean! See more..

Las Dueñas Palace, House of Alba's current residence in Seville, was built between the 15th and 16th centuries and is one of the greatest historical attractions of the city. The building itself, including styles from Gothic-Mudejar to the Renaissance, has significant architectural interest as its several gardens and patios with a special charm . With a diverse collection of painting and sculpture, the house also treasures many family memories. The current configuration of its pieces has remained true to its actual distribution before the opening, making the Palace a unique and different place to visit. See more..

Both sided by the 16th century "Iglesia de San Nicolás" and offering the most unforgettable views of "La Alhambra", "Río Darro" and "Sierra Nevada" mountain range in the background. 19. 4.0 Alcazar Jerez de la Frontera (1.272 reviews)
    - Good for a Morning Visit in Summer
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Alcazar Jerez de la Frontera image
It may not have the grandeur of Seville or Granada, but it's a taste of historical Jerez, nicely restored by the municipality. Also, at 5 euros each, excluding the cost of the Camera Obscura, it felt good value. We spent an hour and a half, early AM, before visiting the Bodega Tio Pepe, which is virtually next door. Lovely gardens and some good views out over Jerez. Note that last tickets are sold at 14.30 and it may feel very hot in the afternoon, so would recommend AM visit and it opens at 9.00 AM. See more..

    Paseo de los Tristes image
Another area you can view the Alhambra from below. It's a nice area with seating and restaurants that do menu of the day for €12 euros. There is a bakery nearby if you are feeling peckish but don't fancy a full meal or tapas. From this area you can walk on with the wall/river to your right and the road bends to the left and goes uphill. Just as you walk up there is a nice garden on the right Palacio de los Cordova and further on to the right you can walk up to Museo de Las Cuevas which also gives a good viewpoint of the Alhambra. Tip: wear sensible shoes as you do a lot of walking in this city and most is either up or down hill. See more..

You visit this as part of your trip to the cathedral in Cordoba. It acts as a staging ground for those waiting for their timed entry. 24. 5.0 Feria del Caballo (871 reviews)
    - Umissable - daytime is best for anyone over 25!
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Feria del Caballo image
We moved to Jerez for business and family reasons and never expected to be part of such a buzzing cultural city. The Feria is a unique and unmissable experience and as all the locals will attest it is wonderfully open for drinks and lunch - unlike the Seville feria where access to the eating/drinking areas is by invitation. After 3 years of feria in Jerez we are now seasoned visitors, arriving in full sevillana dress for me and the kids. Husband makes do in jeans and a jacket as do the locals. The fair by daytime is magical with the well appointed horses and carriages and freedom to eat and drink and dance. By night the atmosphere is packed and much more nightclub and rather "ugly" if you're looking for culture per se. It is a wonderful experience but come during the day - especially Ladies day and enjoy the spectacle! See more..
  25. 5.0 Rio Borosa (761 reviews)
    - Excellent walk
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Rio Borosa image
Absolutely incredible. A gorgeous trail, easy paths, dog friendly, stunning nature, must do! You can choose a short or long walk, and it is relatively easy if you take your time. To get to the picturesque river, it will take roughly 1 hour. I suggest going earlier in the morning, as the trail was rather packed by around 11am and then it'll be scorching hot by the time you finish. Make sure you pack water, good walking shoes, sunblock, a hat and a snack if necessary. See more..

  27. 4.5 Plaza del Triunfo (685 reviews)
    - A Plaza with history
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
    Plaza del Triunfo image
Plaza del Triunfo is a beautiful public space. It is surrounded by a lot of history and that is seen in buildings like the Cathedral, the Real Alcazar, the Convent of the Encarnación and the lovely atmosphere of the square itself. Its name goes back to the 18th century and is connected to the Portuguese capital Lisbon. When a devastating and powerful earthquake hit Lisbon, it was felt in Seville. At that very moment, according to tradition, worshippers were inside the Cathedral, during Mass. Undeterred, they went outside on to the square, where the Mass continued. Seville, as it turned out escaped the earthquake almost unscathed. In return they named the Square in remembrance of this event. A fitting monument to the Virgin Mary was also built there. See more..
  28. 4.0 Plaza de Las Tendillas (643 reviews)
    - Important Plaza
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Plaza de Las Tendillas image
Plaza de Las Tendillas is a central area of Cordoba. It is meant to be the commercial centre of the city. Several important commercial buildings are located there. Important city buildings such as La Unión y el Fénix, the Enriquez Barrios House, the Luis de Góngora Institute and the Colomera Palace are all located in this area. They all have a story to tell. In the centre of the plaza is the equestrian monument to the Great Captain, an important historical figure in the history of Cordoba. And the well known Tendillas Clock, which welcomes every new Year on the last day of December, is also located atop a corner building in the Plaza. And then there are the cafes and several eateries in the vicinity. The plaza has some lovely greenery and seats to use for tired bodies. We certainly enjoyed our short time in this plaza. See more..
  29. 4.5 Zahara de la Sierra (633 reviews)
    - A Pueblo Blanco Jewel
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Zahara de la Sierra image
Zahara is a pueblo blanco that is a bit off the tourist track, but well worth a stop or overnight stay. We decided to stay a bit impulsively, found a three-bedroom apartment on Booking.com for less than 60 euros, and were entranced by the town and its local feel. We found good food, breathtaking scenery, and perhaps the most amazing Moorish (later Castilian) castle in all of Andalusia. Don’t miss it! See more..

    Arcos de la Frontera image
Stayed here in February but by no means closed up completely. This beautiful little village lies southwest of Seville, easy to get to by car (not sure about public transport) and is a mix of the old Arcos and modern on the edges of the town. Possible to eat and drink reasonably to around 11 in the evening at this time of year. Stunning views of the castle from the low road. Well stocked supermarkets, Carrefour and El Jamon two of the biggest with reasonable prices. Well placed to visit round about, Jerez, Cadiz, Medina Sidonia, Sanlucar de Barrameda. See more..
  31. 4.5 Plaza Vazquez de Molina (598 reviews)
    - another gem of Renaissance
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Plaza Vazquez de Molina image
Plaza Vazquez de Molina is surrounded by Renaissance style buildings: Palacio del Dean Ortega (there is hotel now), Palacio Vazquez de Molina (there is Town Hall now), Palacio del Marques de Mancera, Basilica de Santa María de los Reales Alcazares, Sacra Capilla del Salvador. The most of them were designed or their construction were carried out by the Spanish architect Andres de Vandelvira. All facades of the palaces have strict forms of classical Renaissance style but are very majestic at the same time, and Sacra Capilla del Salvador has exceptionally beautiful exterior as well as interior. If anyone doubts whether it is worthwhile to see the interior of this chapel, at first can visit the exhibition in the basement of Town Hall. See more..
  32. 4.5 Cabo de Gata Lighthouse (587 reviews)
    - Nice view from the Sirens' Lookout
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
    Cabo de Gata Lighthouse image
The lighthouse itself is not really a great view as it looks quite run down and there is no access to it. But at the balcony next to it you get a view from the Sirens' Lookout which is one of the main attractions in the area according to the online lists of places to see in Cabo de Gata. We walked a little beyond the dead end in the road as we thought the view point was further along but it's to the left of the lighthouse so don't miss it! See more..

  35. 4.5 Cabo Trafalgar (453 reviews)
    - Definitely worth the drive to see a bit of history
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Cabo Trafalgar image
On 21 October 1805 just offshore from here Nelson defeated the combined French and Naval fleets at the battle of Trafalgar. Today the site is a haven for the surfing set. There is a small monument/plaque on a cairn on a sandy track leading to a modern lighthouse. The latter is very photogenic. The beaches are good, the waves impressive and the wind relentless. It is off the beaten track although served by a very good road network from Cadiz. There is good secure parking at the Faros Trafalgar car park (€3 all day) and plenty of restaurants and shops. The Las Dunas restaurant is recommended (see my TA review). If you are into surf sports this place will be heaven but it’s well worth a visit just to stroll along the beach and soak up the history See more..

While a few in the day is impressive, it really becomes beautiful at night, as it is lit up.
