Some of Star Wars was Filmed Here

We visited Plaza de Espana twice while we lived in Spain. The first time was on a Monday in April 2021 and the place was not busy at all! The second time, at the end of July/beginning of August, it was MUCH busier. It's much hotter this time of year but it does seem to be when everyone has the time off! We enjoyed watching a few people dance (they of course pass around a hat for money). There's not much to actually do in the Plaza but plenty of pretty photo ops! Part of the building was used in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, where Anakin and Padmé arrive on Naboo. Granted it was 5 years ago but apparently in 2018, Plaza de Espana in Seville was TripAdvisor's #2 top landmark of the year!

    Beautiful Plaza de Espana
This is beautiful place. You can hire a rowing boat on the canal, which takes about 35 minutes to get round cost 6 euros per boat 35 mins or 10 euros 1hr 10 mins. Lots of flamenco artists, carriages to hire even a man blowing giant bubbles in the square

    Spectacular - a Must-See
Probably the most spectacular (free) venue we have ever visited. On approaches to the Plaza the beautiful gardens hide the most amazing structure. It is a photographers dream venue, with lively colours, numerous arches, two amazing towers and a central entrance porch. There were concerts taking place each evening during our (Sept 2022) visit and therefore the central courtyard was filled with seats and a stage. Traditional flamenco dancers entertained all the visitors too ( for a small contribution). It's a 'must see' for anyone visiting Seville.
