  2. 4.5 Royal Chapel of Granada (7.154 reviews)
    - Very Interesting Chapel and Crypt

    Royal Chapel of Granada image
The Chapel of the Catholic Kings was conceived as a burial site intimately linked to the Cathedral, but without merging with its architecture. It is built with a single nave, an octagonal presbytery preceded by bleachers, a transept with little development and a choir at its feet, for the functions of a pantheon. As a funeral chapel none, in Spain, it excels in size. In it you can appreciate both its simplicity and its wealth thanks to the generous endowment of the queen. The Royal Chapel houses the mortal remains of Don Fernando de Aragón and Dona Isabel de Castilla (who were initially resting in the convent of San Francisco de la Alhambra), as well as those of Dona Juana I, Don Felipe and Infante Miguel. Under the tombs there is a small crypt of marked austerity, in which are deposited the real, lead coffins, identified by the initial of each name on the cover. See more..

  4. 4.5 Jaen Cathedral (1.317 reviews)
    - Great Renaissance style Cathedral
    Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
    Jaen Cathedral image
The cathedral is a majestic renaissance building. Its architect, Andrés de Vandelvira, designed a very harmonious cathedral; the best perception of its harmony, it is when you go upstairs, and you look at the cathedral from the upper galleries. To visit the Cathedral, it is necessary to pay 6 euros, including the entry an audio guide. The texts are of high quality, but perhaps too technical, for those who do not master the technical vocabulary, referring to architectural elements. Enjoy! See more..

It is a totally private initiative of restauration of a space hidden into several houses belonging to different families where they were living a normal life, with no idea about the greatness of the place walled into their houses. Sinagoga de Córdoba image
Located not far from Puerta del Almodovar- Just turn right down the first street you come to and it's on your right about 75 metres down. The synagogue dates from 1315, but after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, the same year in which Columbus crossed the Atlantic Ocean, the building served as a hospital and later a community centre. It's quite small inside, but worth visiting nonetheless. There are information boars at different locations inside. It was free to enter. See more..

    La Rabida Monastery image
A really interesting building containing a huge amount of history from its Moorish beginnings through the development into a monastery and its role in the history of Christopher Columbus instigating the project culminating in the exploration of the Americas and beyond. The audio guide is available in many languages, is very informative and free with the entry ticket (~€3.50). The building is stunning and contains many relics from throughout its history. There is also a large collection of art work to enjoy. Highly recommended for an hour out of your day. I would recommend visiting together with the local botanic garden and the museum of seafaring containing full sized replicas of the three ships Columbus took on his voyage to the Americas. See more..

We are a private, independent and secular project that seeks to recover the lost memory of the Jewish culture and history of Sepharad, the Hebrew name for the Iberian Peninsula. Through different rooms we will see how more than 15 centuries of Jewish presence were violently erased after 1492, creating a society that denied religious and cultural diversity. See more..
  11. 4.0 Catedral de Almeria (645 reviews)

    Catedral de Almeria image
Visited the Cathedral before siesta & it was really quiet and we had the whole place to ourselves most of the time. The entrance was €6 with an audioguide. The lighting of the place was stunning. It looks quite different from other cathedrals we have been in as there is no bell tower or dome. The stained glass panels are small and set high up so there isn't alot of light which makes the lighting all the more distinctive. The choir, organs and altar were very impressive and it was really well maintained and clean. Entrance takes you through the courtyard before entering the Cathedral. Stunning building & the square is beautiful too, with the many palm trees. Definitely worth a visit when in Almeria! See more..

We regrettably didn’t have a lot of time when we came across this church so only got to experienced a little bit of it, but what we observed was beautiful. As with many churches here and in Europe, they all tend to have their own uniqueness and beauty to them. Hopefully on next visit, we can spend ore time here. See more..
