4.5Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata(2.435 reviews) - A wild contrast to the city of Almeria Spent More than 3 hours State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
A very beautiful area in the south-east corner of Spain. We drove to the lighthouse first where you can look down on the the jagged rocks known as the Sirens. Then took the road to San Jose. The sea was really rough and the surf made the beach exciting. We drove on to Los Escullos where ancient oolitic limestone rocks create weird formations. The rocks are almost lacy looking in places but very hard. The strong wind was throwing up a lot of surf against the rocks and the white rocks, surf and blue sky were very picturesque. After that we stopped at La Isleta del Moro, a small village with more spectacular sea-views. Most restaurants were shut as it was only mid-February. We have previously visited Agua Amarga which was lively in early May but very quiet this time in February. The visit makes a lovely contrast to the busyness of Almeria.See more..

5.0Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla(829 reviews) - Gilillo: great hike on easy tracks Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Forests
We hiked from the Parador to Gilillo. Superb track, easy hiking. Unfortunately we could not find Cabeza de la Virgen. The Maps leave a lot to be desired. What you want is maps like you get in Austria and other alpine countries. We only had one full day so the hike we did was perfect (as one does not need a good map for it). If one stayed longer,a good map would help. If there are good maps the Parador should have them for saleSee more..

Only a few minutes away from the city that joined its destiny to the king of the dehesa, at RESERVATURO RONDA, in the edge of a Biosphere Reserve, we can enjoy observing within a short distance all the stages of the fighting bull breeding and selection: the breeding stock cows escorted by the powerful stallion -the chosen one, the herald of the essence of the breed-; the calves born that year, running about together overlooked by their mothers, dreaming of a long life in the country; the young bulls insolents, boastful of their thoroughbred; and finally, the bull, the result of centuries of men's passion for creating the most beautiful creature, midway between its nobility and its fighting spirit. Turn left from Barceló Mar and start walking. Well signposted turn offs will take you through the trees to the beach. Beautiful to stop and look at trees and birds and any other wildlife you are fortunate enough to spot! Walk down beside the road as far as you can then get on to the beach. You can walk to the next town if you’re up to it! We did, tiring but worth the experience.See more..

I discovered Las Marismas de Odiel by case on the way to Huelva. You have real salinas there and in August a lot of flamingos there. You can see them both staying and flying. Really a nice place and not by case it belongs to the world heritage list.See more..
It’s not all about cacti but what’s here will certainly fulfil your wildest desires. It’s beautifully laid out, generously spaced and the setting is stunning. Other succulents abound here too. And you can buy them. I’ve seen specimens in botanic gardens and speciality shows elsewhere but the scale of this exquisite gem of a collection makes it a mandatory destination. Plan your pilgrimage today.See more..
