Succulent Paradise

It’s not all about cacti but what’s here will certainly fulfil your wildest desires. It’s beautifully laid out, generously spaced and the setting is stunning. Other succulents abound here too. And you can buy them. I’ve seen specimens in botanic gardens and speciality shows elsewhere but the scale of this exquisite gem of a collection makes it a mandatory destination. Plan your pilgrimage today.

    Great Open Air Jazz Concert
We discovered Cactus Nijar by accident and looking around the beautifully laid out free exhibition of Cacti we spotted a notice for the concert on the 9th Feb. The featured group was the 'Pepe Ibarra Trio', great mix of light jazz with some easily recognisable songs. The atmosphere was great and the event well attended. Entrance was €3 pp and there was a good supply of tapas style foods at €1 per item, as well as wines and beers. Seating is plentiful with some chairs and more bench type seats. We were blessed with warm bright sunshine and as facing the group meant facing the sun, hat and sunglasses are a must. This was well organised if not well advertised and definitely worth looking out for as I think these may be monthly events. Frustratingly there are an increasing number of people who take no account of an individuals' privacy and think nothing of filming the audience as well as the performing group on their mobile phones. I, for one, closed my social media accounts so as not to engage with the lack of privacy of these programs, so i would appeal to the organisers to look at how this problem may be addressed for the best way to respect everyones wishes. Unfortunately we were sitting in front of a group of Brits who were there to socialise and not to enjoy the music but we tried not to let them spoil what was otherwise a very enjoyable afternoon. Also, give yourself time to walk around the Cactus garden, its lovely to just sit and see.
