Great experience to observe and understand the flora and fauna
We had a great experience with Parque Donana by August. We did the trip in the morning with Javier, who revealed to be the perfect guide for our trip - very pleasant and informative all the way through the trip, and also had the patience to descrive everything in English - we drove most of the way with some stops to catch some breath, walking through the forest while observing several animal habitats, and looking through binoculars to some deer family in the distance. We then drove to a rest place and stood there about 30 minutes to eat something and visit the museum. The best part took place on our way back. We have read some feedbacks before buying our tickets and realised that the chance of seeing lynxes is rather rare, being something like 1 out of 10 trips. But all of a sudden, we stopped along the road to realise a lynx was sighted near the fence (which is, according to Javier, not common at all).. We could see him for a while, as he progressivelly approached the fence and then ran along the fence. He was hunting, apparently. So we had the luck of seeing a lynx hunting, in a not so common place. We were happy with our trip until then, but that was the cherry on the cake! We could not see flamingos because they're migrating in this time of the year. Suming up, worths visiting, specially if you have a good guide like we did!

    Quite a special place
Decided against a guided tour of Doñana (although that was what we had intended) as the pouring rain meant we would be unlikely to see much. When the rain eased off we were able to do two of the walks from the Centro de Visitantes at Acebuche. Because of the weather we were the only visitors, so total tranquility. However, we did manage to see a Hoopoe, several azure winged magpies, wild boar, and from the hides to spend some time watching a group of deer, and a pair of storks. Would have rated 5 stars, had the rains managed to fill the wetland areas, but whilst there had been a lot falling it was clearly not enough to compensate for the extensive period of drought. Would love to come back to do the bus tours, and judging by the early morning cacophony from the birds near our accommodation at Mazagon, expect that the 8 am tour would be the best option.
