We went to the Wulong Karst on December 30, 2018 which we have some snow along way giving us a cool white scenery. The Tea House was cover in white snow. It was really amazing view and able to walk around this area. A must visit. If you are traveling from Chongqing city for a day trip using public transportation, make sure that you have enough time to come down from the mountain (festive season might be a bit of queuing and traffic on the roads). Even it is a low season yet Local still travel to experience this natural park. We did not make it back on time to get the last bus to Chongqing City as we are doing a trip. But able to get some local around the station to take us to the other bus (not scheduled one) with additional fee. But we arrived safely in Chongqing on the same day. There is still a lot more to see in this area if you want to experience all i suggest to stay overnight or two to get around. I would do that on my next visit. See more..

We visited during Golden Week in the morning (ticket office opens 7.30AM). Crowds not too bad. The elevator down seemed only option, we could not find the path down. I went here with some friends in december 2012. We had hired a private guide to take us there on a day trip. This place was truly amazing, its a forest of stone on the top of a mountain, doesnt get more unique than that. Our guide told us that it was very unusual that he got to take tourist there, witch is very strange. The veiws are spectacular and it feels like you walked into a fairy tale. Beside us there were not more than 20 other people visiting this large site, all chinese of course. We probably were the only westerners there for a long time. The locals got very curious when we got out of the car. Not in a bad way, they were nice, and no one tried to sell you anything. Go to this place if you can! You wont regret it! Just before you enter the visitors parking lot there is a restaurant with a great veiw of the valley. Have lunch there if you can. It vas a great place. See more..

Some of my friends hiked up the mountain but we took a bus. Don't feel like you are cheating taking the bus, cable car, or motorbike because once you get there you will be hiking a lot keep an eye on the map and signs and be sure to visit the various peaks. Take the cable car down!! the view is incredible and it is super fun jumping on and off of a moving cable car. The one thing I would do differently is hiring a motorbike going up. It would be an adventure riding on the back of the bike going up the winding endless roads. See more..

We saw the entrance to the Gorge from our cruise ship. But there is an even better view from the White Emperor City, Baidicheng if your cruise ship offers this as a tour option. We took the coach from 陳家坪 bus station to Dazu bus terminal, then city bus 205 to Baodingshan rock carving scenic area. We bought the combination ticket to both Baodingshan & Beishan sites. The carvings at Baoding are more massive & colorful. I was surprised that we could get so close to the carvings. Of course, crowds were everywhere. My wife and I visited the tourist area at The Three Gorges Dam In October 2018 as part of a two week tour of China. The dam is huge HUGE. The tourist area is on the dam site, and has architecture, fountains and several viewing areas. A series of escalators take you up to the terraces which provide the best views. Beishan is one of five Dazu Rock Carving sites near the city of Dazu in the Chongqing municipality of China. The main site is Baodangshan and tickets may be bought at either site to visit both. The carvings at Beishan are older (650 AD) than Baodangshan (1200 AD) but Baodangshan is a much larger, much more developed, site --- if you have time to visit two sites then Beishan should be your choice for the second. The day my wife and I were there we were the only visitors (Baodangshan had hundreds on the same day). The carvings are interesting but not as well preserved and many heads have been stolen. I would hope that someday the Chinese government would go from the current protection posture they have at Beishan to really preserving the site and providing more extensive labeling, as they have at Baodangshan. I took this optional excursion through a Gate1 tour package on the Century Sun Yangtze river cruise. Luckily our group had its own boat. Our local guide "Lisa" was very friendly and knowledgeable. She sang songs for us, told us some history of the area, and what modern day life is like. Near the end of the ride, she did try to sell some books, tea, and carved animals, but we never felt pressured to buy anything. The quiet boat was nice enough with several wooden benches and a small back deck. Luckily we had a covered roof since it was drizzling/raining the day we went. Even with the rain, this blue-green stream was beautiful. It is surrounded by giant cliffs and mountains. We got to see several cave and cliff coffins. I would definitely recommend this excursion if it is offered. See more..

The 3 gorges dam is a masterpiece of engineering and is currently the worlds largest concrete dam. The dam wall is 2300 metres long and generates a huge amount of electricity throughout China. There are two cinema theaters, one supermarket (Wal-Mart) nearby. I really enjoy the reading experience here, as they provide better environment for looking up books, reading and sharing. We went to Dazu over the CNY Spring festival to visit the carvings. In fact it is 2 sites one in Beishan and the other in Baoding. You can buy a combined ticket for both sites for rmb120 or rmb90 for Baoding and rmb70 for Beishan. No discount for kids. We went to Baoding and as expected it was busy and a little congested with visitors and tour groups. However do not miss this one. This is a real must do and one of the best attraction we had visited. The carvings are absolutely spectaculiar and should not be missed if you intend visiting Chongqing. See more..

You need to be in quite good health to walk to the entrance of the Jade Cave and continue walking the entire distance of the care. There are many steps up and down once inside the Cave. You might benefit from carrying, a small flashlight with you on this tour. Wear good walking shoes, bring you camera, and tissues so that you can wipe your forehead during the tour. While there is not a lot of English (more in the displays about the Three Gorges than the Chongqing history displays) the pictures were so interesting.
