  1. 4.5 Mt. Huangshan (3.120 reviews)
    - Great view, be prepared for lots of stairs and paved paths.
Monday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
    Mt. Huangshan image
To get here you won't be able to get a train since it's near a small town and not a large city so you'll need to either get a 5 hour bus from Nanjing or a 2 hour bus from Hangzhou. There are plenty of hotels where you can spend the night because you'll need as much time as possible to explore the mountain because it's not just one mountain but a huge range of mountains that would take more than a day to explore so don't waste time. If you'd like you can walk up the mountain but it's much easier to grab a tourism bus up to the cable car, hopefully you don't have a fear of heights because you'll be on there for quite a while. On the bus and cable car ride the views are incredible but once you reach the top and can explore the different peaks, the views there are indescribable; while there are plenty of beautiful photos, they don't capture the scale. You can stand on several peaks, look out across several miles and see incredible cliffs and mountain tops. If you want to explore the full range you can sleep in a hostel on the mountain top but make sure you come here before everyone else because China is always packed and you'll have to wait hours if you dont come early. 2. 4.5 Hongcun Ancient Village (591 reviews)
    - Ancient Chinese Culture
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
    Hongcun Ancient Village image
A UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its preservation of the architecture and city plan of a rural village in feudal China, Hongcun was gorgeous and well worth seeing. Plenty of cute houses, alleys, with moon pond as highlight but also the lake, bridges and building interiors with really impressive architecture. We spent half a day here and if it wasn't for the slight drizzle, could have spent even longer. Part of a 1 day guided tour out of Huangshan, easy to get to and must do. Getting to Huangshan, we took a train from Hangzhou and afterwards left for Nanjing which is a 3 hour train ride. See more..
  3. 4.5 Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark (362 reviews)
    - Rest from the city

    Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark image
The cable car ride to the center of the Yellow Mountains (UNESCO) is the first attraction. At this place we experience the breathtaking unique beauty of the Yellow Mountains. You can also spend the night in a hotel on the peaks and admire the sunrise. It's worth going there and see it with your own eyes. See more..
  4. 4.5 Jiuhua Mountain (296 reviews)
    - Beautiful but over commercialised....
    Monday: 7:55 AM - 5:31 PM Mountains
    Jiuhua Mountain image
It is very beautiful. We walked up the mountain to reach the tian tai. It took us two and a half hours but it is worth it cos along the way there are fantastic scenery . P.s. Please bring your own incense from our own country; do not believe what the people at jiuhuashan say if you don't buy the incense from temple then your wishes would not come true. It's not true!! There is no such crap as long as you have the heart to prayu that's upmost important. I am speaking from my personal experience... Don't believe the tour guides there they are out to cheat your money in ways beyond your imagination.. Just prepare for trip well, you don't need a guide there.. (unless you have tonnes of money to spare.. See more..

  6. 4.5 Xidi Ancient Village (189 reviews)
    - Traditional China
Monday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins
    Xidi Ancient Village image
These is one of the top three villages, you should consider visiting in the area, being this and Hongcun the more touristic and Pingshan the less but not the less beautiful comparing these 3. The entrance welcomes you with some beautiful river, and flowers landscape. If you can try to plan to go on mid/end of March beginning of April the time the environment is breathtaking with blossoms of yellow flowers, the rape flowers, they use to produce oil. The yellow colors, the river and the village houses together are really a must. Lot of shops with local products, some carvings, however the most impressing carvings on the houses are in my opinion in Hongcun village. It a a first good village where you can start your tour in a village day tour. You may find lot of tourists here, lot of groups, so arrive early of you can. It is a 45 min to 1 hour drive from Huangshan. If you find this review helpful please give me a helpful vote. Have a nice trip. See more..

    - Highly recommended!

Just came back from an 11 day trip in China, and the Yellow Mountains are easily the highlight of the trip. Do not miss it! This national park is not cheap to get to or to go in, but certainly worth it. Here are the costs, as of April 2018, in Chinese yuan (about 17 US cents): 310 taxi from Tunxi (i.e. Huangshan City) to the Northern Gate, including the 25 Yuan tolls. It should cost 150 to 230 Yuan to go to or from the South gate. 5 Y per person, shuttle bus from north gate to the nearest cable car 115 entrance fee for kids or students (with ID) 230 entrance fee for adults 80 Y for each cable car (one way) or 160 Y round trip 66 shuttle bus from or to the south gate to or from the bus station Hope it helps. Enjoy! See more..
  8. 4.5 Huangshan Hot Spring (174 reviews)
    - Amazing after the climb of the mountain!
Monday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Hot Springs & Geysers
    Huangshan Hot Spring image
Visited after we climbed the mountain. Do not remember the price, but I remember it being empty and we felt totally relaxed. In other words, no matter the price, totally worthy. Various spa pool in the area, maybe around 30 pools, each with a different smell. We stayed only for app. 2-3 hours, but I would totally try to stay longer. See more..
  9. 4.5 Zilusi Reservations (78 reviews)
    - Beautiful, yet too commercialised...
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
    Zilusi Reservations image
The Hong Village is beautifully located at the footsteps of HuangShan, with Ming-style houses and beautiful ponds and with the mountains at the back - very good with the pictures, that's if you can find a time without people around you - which is rarely!! Love the windy lanes in-between the houses and ponds and the "Moon Pond" at the centre is great for pictures - and I can see why Director Ang Lee had chosen this spot for his film. However, because of the film, many local and foreign tourists landed there = things getting very commercialised = village is still pretty but has lost that authentic feel. Still worth a visit before more damages are done to it. See more..
  10. 4.5 Ancient Buildings of Chengkan Village (72 reviews)
    - Well preserved ancient village
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
Ancient Buildings of Chengkan Village image
Chengkan village has well preserved residential architecture from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). Chengkan village is also widely known as Bagua Village (八卦) relating to Taiji philosophy that focuses on two aspects – Yin and Yang. This can be seen in a lot of the old residential houses. It is highly recommended that you hire a guide. If you can understand Chinese, then local guides can be hired at village entrance for a small fee of rmb50 (the guide will take you through the village and explain a lot of Fengshui design of the buildings to you. The tour would take around 1 hour and if you want to spend longer than it is another rmb50). The local village has very limited English speaking guide. While you can tour the village yourself, a lot of cultural knowledge is lost without someone explaining. While this is not as tourist or famous as Hongcun and Xidi, it is definitely worth a visit. 12. 4.5 Tianzhu Mountain Cliff Stone Inscription (69 reviews)
    - LOOOOONG walk, GREAT views
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Tianzhu Mountain Cliff Stone Inscription image
The path up this mountain is completely made up of man-made stairs. It took us four hours to get to the top with a few rest stops and walking at a good pace. I have never hiked a mountain with stairs before so that was interesting. The views were beautiful. There were vendors on the way up who sold various tourist items, food, and bottled drinks. That was also new to me. Restrooms were available at several places along the way. It was a great hike! See more..
  13. 4.5 Huangshan Tangmo Scenic Spot (59 reviews)
    - Uncrowded, Pretty Little Village
Monday: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM Historic Walking Areas
    Huangshan Tangmo Scenic Spot image
Tangmo is not up on Huangshan Mountain, it is a pretty little village in the foothills not far from the arched entrance of the mountain. The main path with trees shading it follows a stream with stone bridges and small ponds. The Hui-style buildings are as acttrative as the larger Honcun, Xidi and others less the hords of crowds. There is a small street with a few stores, locals go around their every days lives are friendly but no one comes to push you to buy stuff. We really enjoyed the lack of commercialism in the lovely little place. See more..
  14. 4.5 Shixin Peak (55 reviews)
    - You really should come and explore while in China
    Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Mountains
    Shixin Peak image
If you are visiting China, you will surely see The Great Wall and perhaps the Terracotta Warriors, but Huangshan should be on your China bucket list. There are so many beautiful sights and wonders here. It is crowded but not like the other places I mentioned. Your China trip would feel empty if you don’t visit Huangshan and this peak is very accessible to people with even limited physical abilities. See more..

    Guniujiang Nature Reserve image
See more..

this place is incredible I went there from 7 am and reached the top of the mountain at 12 pm staying up there in the sky above the clouds is a very good feeling but you must take water with you because it's expensive and not available all the way take with you some medicine for injuries and food but just few things to be light and not heavy to go up the stairs for 5 hours and then go down the mountain with the cable car it's amazing too :) See more..
  18. 4.5 Lianhua Peak (40 reviews)
    - Exhilarating but Crowded!
    Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Mountains
    Lianhua Peak image
The highest peak in Huangshan at 1846 m asl is worth climbing. The scenery on the way up is striking but most times are spent concentrating on the effort of the climb. It is steep, punishing. But the steps are well made and ropes are available to ensure a safe climb. At the top it is a crowded place, made worse by the climbers taking a long time with their selfies. It is not suitable for people with handicaps, afraid of heights. See more..

    - Great Place To Relax & Unwind
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
Qianxian Nanping Village Scenic Resort image
A great quiet village that is over 800 years old in some places . There are a number of amazing traditional hotels for guests to stay with all mod cons and amenities. The architecture in the old houses is amazing and the style differs to that of a lot of other Provinces in China . A great couple of days to sit and relax and unwind exploring all the nooks and crannies and live the slow life for a while . A lot of the small eateries in this village utilise the produce and meat from their own farm and live stock . Worth the visit See more..

    - Great peace after Yellow Mountain

    Qiyun Mountain image
Qiyun mountain An awesome mountain area to visit for a few hours. I arrived at 9 oclock and it was enough to get to see the sea of clouds (on top of the fog). The temples were epic, there was no crowds and the views were breath taking. One should definitely go to "fangla village". There was for some reason no one else except me, but the path was epic. See pictures. Also, i would have wanted to stay in the town for the previous night, but no western travel sites had any of the hotels or lodging on their pages. There were some nice looking modern hotels and even a tree house hotel in the area. See more..
  26. 4.5 Buxian Bridge (24 reviews)
    - A great walking with excellent views
    Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bridges
    Buxian Bridge image
After the Xihei Grand Canyon awesome scenery exploration, we checked in the White Cloud Hotel. Took a shower, had a good Lunch and started another natural beauty exploration heading to Buxian Bridge. How lucky we were, the overnight raining built up sufficient moisture to let the Mother Nature played the great symphony to have the mist, the fog, the cloud ocean flowing around the awesome mountain peaks. OMG, this morning’s Grand Canyon already shocked me, and now another shock with different kind of natural beauty. Actually, the pictures can only tell very little of this natural beauty. You have to come by yourself with your owns to see such a gorgeous place like an awesome photo after another. See more..

    Dagu Ridge of Huangshan image
Очень может быть, что вы окажетесь в этом месте спустившись с Хуаншань вниз. К сожалению, в начале ноября мы увидели почти пересохший водопад. Но его каменное русло отчетливо показывало, насколько могуч он может быть и иногда бывает. See more..
  28. 4.5 Lucun Village (21 reviews)
    - Well worth a visit
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
    Lucun Village image
If you are in Huangshan area for a couple of days, highly recommend Lucun village. It is 3km away from the more popular Hongcun and less touristy. Entrance fee is 50RMB which is also about half the price of the other popular villages in the area. It is a working village where you can see people farming and working. There are well preserved old buildings to wander through, some of which are still inhabited. It’s a scenic village with a stream running through it, inhabited by lots of ducks. There are a number of restaurants and we went to one of the larger ones on the Main Street along the brook for some delicious local chicken and egg with local mushroom. Including lunch, we spent 2-3 hours in the village for an idyllic simple but beautiful afternoon stroll See more..
  29. 4.5 Jiangnan First Barrier (20 reviews)
    - Hui Hang Gu Dao - Tea Caravan Trail
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Ancient Ruins
    Jiangnan First Barrier image
Jiangnan is the first section of this trail which wends its way from Fulingzhen in Anhui to Maxiaocun in Zhejiang. It is one of the 3 famous tea caravan trails in China - the other two being the Silk Road and the Tea Horse Trail. This one is quite convenient to Shanghai - roughly 4 hours by car and possibly a little less by train (alight at Jixi). It was well trodden by traders since the Tang/Song dynasties where tea from Anhui was traded for grains from Zhejiang. It has been fully restored and is of easy to moderate level hiking. The entire trail is best done over 2 days with Xia Xue Tang being an ideal half way point to overnight. Alternatively you can do the loop from Fuling to Xia Xue Tang and back as the trail has an alternative return route via the newer "Happy Valley" section which takes you into the river bed and some spectacular swimming locations in pristine mountain pools. There are various lodgings in self sufficient farms along the way - expect to pay around 100Rmb pp which includes bed, breakfast and an evening meal. We stayed with the Yang family at Xia Xue Tang - highly recommended. Most of the small farms grow bamboo, walnuts and tea and offer lodging to boost their income. Allow about 4 hours to Xia Xue Tang and 3 hours from there to Maxiaocun. You can buy walnuts (hu tao - a small local variety I think) freshly shelled and roasted, cashews and various dried fruits from vendors along the way. Please do, as these dedicated workers walk up to 3 hours in and out every day to make their living. On day two we also passed two vendors selling 'Tuga' - a local variety of bread stuffed with bamboo and preserved vegetables. Fee for the trail is 68Rmb and be sure to hang on to your ticket to show at either end. See more..

    Tunxi Ancient Street image
We were less interested in the shops but more the old architecture and narrow alleys that make for great photo ops. Came once in evening and once during the day and while there are a couple of very "commercialized" streets, overall a great way to spend the afternoon. We also took a break in one of the cafes and great way to spend an afternoon. See more..
