   I went here with some friends in december 2012. We had hired a private guide to take us there on a day trip. This place was truly amazing, its a forest of stone on the top of a mountain, doesnt get more unique than that. Our guide told us that it was very unusual that he got to take tourist there, witch is very strange. The veiws are spectacular and it feels like you walked into a fairy tale. Beside us there were not more than 20 other people visiting this large site, all chinese of course. We probably were the only westerners there for a long time. The locals got very curious when we got out of the car. Not in a bad way, they were nice, and no one tried to sell you anything. Go to this place if you can! You wont regret it! Just before you enter the visitors parking lot there is a restaurant with a great veiw of the valley. Have lunch there if you can. It vas a great place. See more..

   Some of my friends hiked up the mountain but we took a bus. Don't feel like you are cheating taking the bus, cable car, or motorbike because once you get there you will be hiking a lot keep an eye on the map and signs and be sure to visit the various peaks. Take the cable car down!! the view is incredible and it is super fun jumping on and off of a moving cable car. The one thing I would do differently is hiring a motorbike going up. As soon as we arrived in Chongqing , we understood why Chongqing was called " mountain city ".The architecture and scenery here will make us feel very unique.The people here are so enthusiasm that I feel like coming home. Chongqing's food is very spicy, which is exactly what I like to eat. For example, the hot pot here, Chongqing noodles,Hot and sour noodles are my favorites. This is the paradise of spicy eaters. The night scenery of Chongqing is very beautiful. The most famous is Hongya cave, which is called the real-life spired away. It is full of technology and the future. But the roads in Chongqing are very complicated and it is easy to get lost. In summer, the weather is also very dry and hot, so it is necessary to take precautions. While there is not a lot of English (more in the displays about the Three Gorges than the Chongqing history displays) the pictures were so interesting.     When our tour guide asked for a 5:30am start we trusted in his experience and set out in bleary-eyed anticipation. It was well worth the effort since we not only beat the crowds that would undoubtedly come later, but we also caught the animals at their most active and animated.     This is the 1st time I have been to the Jiefang Monument after 7 years. It is a monument to commemorate Chinese victory in World War 2. When I was there in 2013, it looked old and run down, surrounded by skyscrapers (even though it used to be the tallest decades earlier). When I was there in 2019, it looked better maintained. There is even a garden surrounding the monument with bright yellow flowers amid nice greenery. It seems that with nationalism on the rise in China under the current leader Xi, more emphasis is placed on nationalistic monuments. This is a blessing as historical monuments are better maintained with a fresh breadth of life. See more..

    We bought the river cruise tickets at HongYa Dong. Early bird tickets at 80 yuan per pax for the category 118/138 yuan cruises. Good deal. Complimentary mini vans rides will pick you up at 15 mins interval at the main road of HongYa Dong to Chaotianmen. The cruises leave every hour till 10:30pm. The cruise starts at chaotianmen on yangtze river side towards Sheraton Hotel and then make a u turn and cruise back where you can see HongYa Dong in full view and light up. Beautiful. On board, there are drinks and snacks available at nominal prices and even a face mask changing show. Go early to get a seat on the roof top otherwise you will have to stand throughout the 1 hour cruise. The cruise we were on had English and Chinese narration however sadly it was inaudible.     People’s assembly hall, is a big beautiful building with restaurants in the wing along wit other thing it inside is a big theater the seat several, sorry I don’t have the number. Outside in front there are fountains with dancing water . On the area in front of the fountains is a large concrete space the expense to the Three Gorges museum.     This really is a gem of a temple. Currently standing proud in the middle of an area that has been cleared for yet more construction. Right in the heart of the downtown area, this temple thrives, worshipers and tourists seem only too happy to part with the 10RMB entrance fee just to grab a few moments of tranquility. When you have been to as many temples as I have in China they do all tend to look the same, but this one is different. It's location strikes a contrast in this mega city and just by being well used puts it above the average. The main hall contains over 500 Arhat statues, each brightly depicting a person that has been elevated from the wheel of life.     In Chongqing we visited the Hugang Guild Hall – one of the few buildings to survive WWII. It is beautifully decorated and has life sized figures in various displays reflecting life during the Qing Dynasty. It has an Opera Hall and temple as well as a Guild Hall inside as well. The temple is in honour of the first emperor – Yu, who built the first dam to control destructive flooding of the rivers. We saw artists doing more snuff vase painting as well as leaf painting of Bunyan tree leaves. This attraction is well worth a visit as it is so interesting and unlike many places, is not overcrowded.     Quite fascinating and very sad. This prison held members of the Communist Party who were then tortured and murdered at location before and after the rise to power of Communism in China. Can see the torture chambers and dungeon-like cells the prisoners were kept in. A moving experience. Environment is a nice change to the metropolis, though it is still located quite close to Shapingba CBD. Worth the visit if you're in the area. 10 Yuan entry per person. Guided tours available but in Mandarin. There are English translations to most of the information boards.
