   Tongliang is not a very big city by Chinese standards, only a town really but still, living here you tend to forget the countryside is really not far away. Take the 101 bus to it's terminus and you will find yourself at the Dragon Hot Springs resort. The entrance is via the hotel's reception, you are given a wristband that opens a locker containing a clean towel and a pair of sandals. Then you enter the hot springs area. This is a true geothermal spring, and there is a large indoor pool with water jets and high pressure showers, next to that are large sauna rooms (one for each sex). Outside is a swimming pool and a series of hot water plunge pools each with a little added something( lemon, green tea, mint, ginseng) as well as a wave pool. The water is a nice temperature, not too hot and does leave your skin feeling rejuvenated. Upstairs you will find a computer room with free WIFI, a TV lounge where everyone gets their own TV, and some free refreshments (cake, fruit and soft drinks) . You could easily spend all day here relaxing in the pools and looking at the beautiful gardens that are full of birds, butterflys and dragonflies. All for the bargain price of 88RMB .    An ancient settlement located not far from downtown Tongliang. Take the bus from the south bus station and 20 minutes later you are in the small village of An Ju. Built alongside a river the town is not a museum piece but a lived in remnant of old China. A Buddhist temple as well as many old streets give you plenty to explore, but don't come if you are expecting the usual "tourist fayre" because this is real life and a fair way off the beaten track.    This museum was built to display artifacts unearthed locally, principally when they created a new reservoir in 1976. They rescued Tongliang's very own terracotta soldiers! Found in a Ming dynasty tomb of a local person of some eminence. Nothing so grand or impressive as those in the emperors tomb in Xi an as these are only 9" high, but nevertheless a good example of burial practises in feudal times. The museum advertises the "world famous Tongliang dragon lantern" but that display was not ready for the public yet! All the exhibits are labelled bilingually so if you have nothing to do for an hour or so why not give the museum a try? See more..
