4.0Jiefangbei Square(401 reviews) - Wonderfull Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
The picture does not do jiefangbie justice, there is a tower in the middle of the square that is a memorial to the military. There is many stores to do your shopping and dine. There isn’t any automobile traffic in that area, it’s like a large mall The time I was last there was July 2016See more..
4.0Jiefang Monument(341 reviews) - A monument seen revival of fortunes Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is the 1st time I have been to the Jiefang Monument after 7 years. It is a monument to commemorate Chinese victory in World War 2. When I was there in 2013, it looked old and run down, surrounded by skyscrapers (even though it used to be the tallest decades earlier). When I was there in 2019, it looked better maintained. There is even a garden surrounding the monument with bright yellow flowers amid nice greenery. It seems that with nationalism on the rise in China under the current leader Xi, more emphasis is placed on nationalistic monuments. This is a blessing as historical monuments are better maintained with a fresh breadth of life.See more..

4.5Wansheng Heishan Valley Tourism Area(111 reviews) - Extremely interesting Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Beach & Pool Clubs
I went here with some friends in december 2012. We had hired a private guide to take us there on a day trip. This place was truly amazing, its a forest of stone on the top of a mountain, doesnt get more unique than that. Our guide told us that it was very unusual that he got to take tourist there, witch is very strange. The veiws are spectacular and it feels like you walked into a fairy tale. Beside us there were not more than 20 other people visiting this large site, all chinese of course. We probably were the only westerners there for a long time. The locals got very curious when we got out of the car. Not in a bad way, they were nice, and no one tried to sell you anything. Go to this place if you can! You wont regret it! Just before you enter the visitors parking lot there is a restaurant with a great veiw of the valley. Have lunch there if you can. It vas a great place.See more..
In Chongqing we visited the Hugang Guild Hall – one of the few buildings to survive WWII. It is beautifully decorated and has life sized figures in various displays reflecting life during the Qing Dynasty. It has an Opera Hall and temple as well as a Guild Hall inside as well. The temple is in honour of the first emperor – Yu, who built the first dam to control destructive flooding of the rivers. We saw artists doing more snuff vase painting as well as leaf painting of Bunyan tree leaves. This attraction is well worth a visit as it is so interesting and unlike many places, is not overcrowded.See more..
4.0Gele Mountain Bai Mansion(60 reviews) - Baigong Guan Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
Quite fascinating and very sad. This prison held members of the Communist Party who were then tortured and murdered at location before and after the rise to power of Communism in China. Can see the torture chambers and dungeon-like cells the prisoners were kept in. A moving experience. Environment is a nice change to the metropolis, though it is still located quite close to Shapingba CBD. Worth the visit if you're in the area. 10 Yuan entry per person. Guided tours available but in Mandarin. There are English translations to most of the information boards. Going with someone fluent in Mandarin is of course recommended (just like most of China ;) See more..

My wife and I visited the tourist area at The Three Gorges Dam In October 2018 as part of a two week tour of China. The dam is huge HUGE. The tourist area is on the dam site, and has architecture, fountains and several viewing areas. A series of escalators take you up to the terraces which provide the best views. This is a perfect example of how to turn an industrial site into a tourist site.See more..

4.5Tiankeng Land Slot(7 reviews) - Amazing place! Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
This sinkhole is the deepest and widest sinkhole in the world! I visited the "Xiaozhai Tiankeng Sinkhol" aka "Heavenly Pit" in Mai 2019. The visit was amazing, for many reasons. The site is almost virgin. There is no elevator to access the sinkhole and little construction at the bottom of the pit. The landscapes are fantastic, and offer great possibilities for photos, both outside and inside the sinkhole. The site is maintained cleaned and there were not so many visitors, this place is still unknown to most tourists. If you're into karst landscapes, don't hesitate, this place is for you!See more..
4.5Youyang Taohua Yuan(5 reviews) - Peachland or Outopos? Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Caverns & Caves • Beach & Pool Clubs
It is a famous and mysterious place in the essay by Tao Yuan Ming who is a poet lived Eastern Jin Dynasty about 365-427 AD As he wrote, a fisherman found the place by chance, and people there happy, free and hospitable. But nobody could find the place again. Sir Tao liked wine and flower, he resigned and lived in countryside to seek tranquility. Maybe the essay was wrote after drunk, so the place just like Pepperland in I guess Nowadays there are some places called 'Taohua Yuan' in china. Which is real one or it is never existence, nobody knows Fly sheet says 'there are two mysterious Peach Land all over the world, one in your mind, and the other in Youyang' But i prefer to say peachland always in ur heart. Anyway, Youyang Taohua Yuan is a beautiful place : )See more..

Again, not the easiest place to access but there are regular shuttle buses from the centre of Tongnan City to the park. The park access is on a narrow street so if it is a nice day and at the weekend the traffic does tend to build up. So an early start is recommended . The park is overlooked by a huge statue of Chen tuan, the man who designed the yin yan symbol that is the heart of the Dao faith. The climb up to the statue is relatively easy but the stairs are really small (China style!) so use the frequent rest areas. The view from the top is great, in March thy have an oil-seed rape festival so the whole area is full of bright yellow flowers (the scent is quite strong so if you suffer from hayfever be warned!) and from the top you can see a huge yinyan symbol in the fields. There is for the more brave traveller a zip slide accross the river from the monument but I prefered the small ferrys. There are many stalls selling local snacks (from spicy sweet potato jelly, to deep fried ice cream) and water based activities for the kids, just take your time wander along the river to the exhibition halls about half a mile upstrem. A great day out.See more..
