The museum always looked faded and old to me. Someone from Dalhousie once told me that it was full of olf dull stuff. It never interested me much. Then one day me and my daughter went because they were partnered with the local library and was having a free tour and we had nothing else to do on that rainy day so we went. We... actully had fun! The cool thing about this museum is that kids are encouraged to TOUCH! Yes it is old stuff but it tells a great story to kids about the way our ancesters were living. The tools they had... there's an old cash register machine that kids just love to play with. They can run. Theres an old phone too. The guy was telling all of the kids to pull drawers and touch and look arround and to find things. In the drawers there's magnifiers to see more items. At the end theres a part about the dalhousie bathurst winter games they had arround here in like... 2003?! I guess you can learn a bit more with the tour guy than what i had with a bunch of kids running arround!! So if you are into old generations and history its not a bad place to visit. Just dont plan it as your whole day... takes maybe an hour max. At the end of the tour make sure you visit the gift shop as there is nice souvenirs from the region. See more..

This visit was amazing. lots of history in a small building and no admission! just a donation but tour guide did not pressure although we were happy to put in 5$ at the end of our tour. tour guide knew her stuff for sure, was telling us a lot of interesting and funny stories (relevant ones) during the tour. was very well set up and had lots of stuff to look at. Tour guide was from the area so she was very interested in the history she was explaining and seemed very enthusiastic. answered every question me and my wife had in full detail and the ones she was unsure of, she did not pretend to know or guess. some museum guides do this, and i find it quite annoying. at the end of the day, the guide seemed to enjoy telling us all about the history of the house and the town. she offered us advice on where to visit next and genuinely seemed excited to point us in our next direction. she made the visit worth while for sure.See more..

4.5The Old Bank Museum(2 reviews) - Excellent, little gem of a museum. Speciality Museums We stopped here whilst passing as the sign outside said it was open. It’s the old bank that is now in its third location. Outside, you can read all the history. Whilst we were reading the text we were met by the curator and his friendly dog “Max”. He then gave us lots of interesting details about how the bank used to be and also other parts of local history (including shipbuilding). The bank managers office includes various pictures of the various managers of the bank and there is a small display on local shipbuilding at the back of the museum. And upstairs is laid out in the old bank managers residence with various displays. Well worth a stop. No admission fee, there is a pot for donations.See more..

5.0Musée Des Cultures Fondatrices(1 review) - Outstanding local museum. Friday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums • History Museums
We stopped here enroute from Caraquet to Bathurst. We didn’t expect much, but the museum contains so much information about the history of New Brunswick. We were offered the option of a guide or a self tour. We went with the guide who explained lots of the exhibits and the history and allowed us time to read the various information boards. Ironically, we learnt much more about Lord Beaverbrook here than we did in Lord Beaverbrook’s house in Miramichi. Great little museum, well worth a stop.See more..

2.0Colville House(1 review) - Improvement required Speciality Museums it is a house and its fun to see that Colville leave there. But if they had inside a permanent exposition of the paintings that the Owen Museum have... It would then become one of the biggest attraction of New Brunswick. And think this is what is missing to make it great. See more..
This museum is located at the University of Moncton. It is dedicated to the history of the North-West of New Brunswick. The aboriginals in that area were named the Madoueskak. In the 18th century, Acadians moved in their territory. In the 19th century more people moved there. Everyone like the forests and the ground was perfect for agriculture. Another bonus, the next city was quite far from here. They were isolated and they liked that. There was a dispute between the Americans and the Canadians in this area, concerning the forest. The Americans decided to not dispute the territory any longer as they didn't want war with the Canadians. Everything was well explained. This is why this museum exists. Cool! A great place for history buffs! P.S. Admission fees are 5$See more..
