This lovely nature park is perfect spot to stop for the day or longer in the summer! We loved it as we enjoyed fun filled days fir all the family and friends .. we had the opportunity to go kayaking, paddle boating, canoeing and well marked walking trail. Ice was enjoyed by all in the local shop. Like many places in Mirimachi we found that there is more to enjoy during the evening and the opportunity to also enjoy events and activities in the summer. Maliseet Trail image
If ever you are in the Woodstock area. I highly recommend you seek out the Maliseet Trail. Little hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for. I always like to find the entrance on google maps first. Once found it is easy to access off the main rd. Short hike in and the scenery is absolutely amazing. We went after a lot of rain and the waterfall was absolutely gorgeous! You will want to linger upon your arrival. Enjoy! See more..
  7. 4.5 The Bluff (19 reviews)
    - Awesome views, short hike.
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    The Bluff image
A great hike for a novice, the bluff (there are actually 3, separated by short distances) is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon or late evening. Find the big blue water tower in Sussex Corner, and the trailhead is just behind it (there are two, take the one nearest the valley). There is a 20 or so minute walk along a rock ridge and through the woods, and then the path opens up into a beautiful panoramic view of Dutch Valley and Poley Mountain. It's one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) view in the Sussex area. Dogs are welcome and frequent the trail but are usually leashed. Not a place for toddlers but older children should do fine, but keep close to an adult just to be safe...there are a few areas that if you trip over the side it's a long way down. The terrain is very uneven but easily passable (roots, rocks, etc) and it's pretty hard to get lost....a straight shot in and out. Best advice is to do late evening when the sun is just setting, the shadows in the valley are beautiful. See more..

Really nice trail with nice views. Contains different trails from Bathurst to the Mont Carleton (4 days). All different lenghts, but a day treking that I really like doing is the one that brings you to the other side of Pabineau Falls (the non touristy side)! Such a nice view!! See more..
  9. 4.5 Beech Hill Park (7 reviews)
    - Just off the highway, nice sheltered picnic table, well-cared for trails, and a clean toilet
    Hiking Trails
    Beech Hill Park image
Very easy detour off the highway. This park is popular year round for walking on flat, groomed trail loops through a lovely wooded area. Access in winter is usually good as well, and it's a good location for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Some vistas overlook Silver Lake, an early mill pond that has been maintained as a recreation area, and the Tantramar Marsh off in the distance. Lots of rabbits and squirrels if you're observant, and chanterelle and lobster mushrooms too. See more..
  10. 4.0 Sentier du Prospecteur (7 reviews)
    - Little piece of peace right by Edmunston

    Sentier du Prospecteur image
Went there on a warm and sunny saturday. I was suprised to be the only car in the parking. I hiked and geochached for about 3 hours before returning to the car. I met only one hiker in all that time! Very nice spot that is surprisingly not as busy as it should. It is a big weird to get to, and it doesnt show on Google Maps. If it wasn't for that very small sign by the road I would have not found it. I added the location on Google Maps, hopefully they add it to their maps to make it easier for others. See more..
  11. 5.0 The Fundy Footpath (6 reviews)
    - Very Challenging
    Hiking Trails
    The Fundy Footpath image
We planned a 5 day 4 night backpack in order to do some of the side trips. We had read that it was more challenging than it sounds and that was 100% true. The footing was difficult - the path is narrow and often at a side angle. You climb to 600'+ and drop to sea level multiple times each day. The book describes the ascents as gradual but nearly all of them would be considered steep by most standards. The beach campsites are magnificent and we didn't see many people. Telegraph Brook was my favorite. See more..
  12. 4.5 Clark Gregory Nature Preserve (6 reviews)
    - Wonderful hike, an hour round trip with a gorgeous reward at the end!
    Hiking Trails
    Clark Gregory Nature Preserve image
The trail from the northernmost access point is just past Chocolate Cove off of the main road. Drive down the access road and there’s a small area to park at the trailhead with a map. 30 minutes or so of hiking and you will come to a beautiful ocean viewpoint on a rocky point in the forest. This hike offers a gorgeous example of the Boreal/Acadian Forest ecosystem. The trail is well marked, and there’s an interesting enclosed “lean to” type of structure a few minutes from the trailhead with windows and a little guest book. Completely charming! See more..

    Blackville Municipal Park image
We used the park on our canoe trip down the Miramichi River. It has washrooms, beautiful landscaping, a walking trail, picnic area, parking for our vehicle and trailer and a boat ramp. We put our canoes in the river at the mouth of the Cains and after a relaxing trip we reached the park in about 3 hours. It was a perfect day! The scenery was spectacular. I highly recommend checking out this park on the Miramichi. See more..

A must see when on Grand Manan Island. It is not far in from the parking area, and can easily hike there and head back up if you do not want to continue on the trail. We went through the North Head Campground, and there was a small fee (around 8$ I believe) to access the area. Just stop at the office to get your pass. We had access to washrooms (fill up your water bottles!) and washers and dryers if needed before continuing to the parking area for the trail entrance. Well worth it! See more..

Beginner and experienced hikers love 'The Dobson". The first section is a well groomed loop trail along Mill Creek, a meandering stream flowing gently over rocks. A great place for dog walking and family hikes. Go further and you will find a well marked trail wandering through the woods. Hike in as far as you want and then hike back out. The trail itself travels 50km right down to Fundy National Park. The trail is maintained by dedicated volunteers who take care of any fallen trees or other obstacles. See more..

I went with my daughters grade 4 class trip to the marsh. Very nice and relaxing to walk along the side of the marsh and take in what the wetland has to offer you. Just the sounds alone are amazing. If you close your eyes it's just crazy the amount of activity there. The birds, the insects, and the little critters. Lots of different trees, grasses, aquatic plants... Could definitely spend several hours there. Bring your binoculars ! See more..
  23. 4.5 Coppermine Trail (2 reviews)
    - Great views
    Hiking Trails
This 5.2 k trail winds its way through dense woods and crosses several creeks. An old copper mine is at the mid point. It is a very rugged climb to see the old mine but if necessary, there is by pass that can be taken. The second part of the trail follows the cliff edge with fantastic views of the bay of Fundy and the water below. It took us 2.5 hrs to complete this trail. See more..

  27. 5.0 Red Trail (1 review)
    - Belle randonnée

Hole in the wall Rock Trail
