We walked the trail and went up into the lighthouse. The grounds are beautiful to check out and contain lots of historical information for reading. The walk up and around the lighthouse are free as well as the parking but to enter the lighthouse itself costs $5 with proceeds going to the maintenance of the buildings. We had a nice sunny day so this was worth the fee and we climbed up to the top for an amazing view. Back in the parking lot there is a small gift shop. It's also worth nothing the park is dog friendly, like most places on grand manan. Definitely worth the stop!!See more..
We are just back from a 6 day visit to the Acadian Peninsula. We had a lovely visit to the lighthouse, it was sunny but windy. It's an easy climb up the lighthouse (wide stairs until the ladder at the top). We enjoyed to lovely views from the top. I think it was $5 each, we paid cash so I'm not sure if they take cards. We also enjoyed walking along the beach, it's a rocky shore. Restaurant and shop were closed for the season on September 7 (day after labour day for 2021).See more..

I love lighthouses and have dragged my husband along winding roads some of which are unpaved "just" to see a lighthouse. Last year when we visited Acadia and Schoodic, we made our way to Lubec to see the West Quoddy lighthouse. When in Lubec, we saw the Mulholland Lighthouse from a distance but couldn't cross into Canada due to the pandemic. This year I was determined to go. Getting to this lighthouse was easy--just cross the Roosevelt International Bridge and you are there! The lighthouse was constructed in 1884 to guide vessels through the Lubec Narrows, the passage between Campobello Island and Maine. There is a picnic area and steps leading down to the water. This is the only lighthouse shared by both Canada and the US and is located within Roosevelt International Park. It has great views of the FDR Bridge and Lubec across the narrows. This lighthouse area is always mentioned on tourist sites as the best place to see the sunset and for several years, it's where we went to watch them when we were visiting Grand Manan. The lighthouse itself is a modern structure and not photographic like some others on the island. But for sunsets, continue down the road just a bit further and off to the right you'll see a parking area at the bottom of a small hill. Pull in there and there's a long wooden bench for people to sit and watch the amazing sunsets from here. The best part was that this is where the "locals" go to watch the sunsets and they were so awesome - telling us all kinds of great stories, how the fishing season is going, explaining how the aquaculture around the island works, recommending where to eat... We took some AMAZING sunset photos night after night after night and there's a great beach there that you can walk down to and do some beachcombing while you wait for the sun to set.See more..

Didn't see much of it, as it was at night, but what an elegant lighthouse! I wasn't sure if it was real or just a replica, but reading the below reviews have shed some light (pun intended) on the reality. The reds are a little bit drabber and off-hue than the reds of other lighthouses we saw on our trip, but since this one isn't legitimate, that could be the reason why. Still, a great monument to see, while you eat lunch across the street, under a gazebo. Lots of (free!) parking too.See more..

My wife grew up on this lonely point. Her Father was the Lighthouse Keeper. We love returning to this spot remembering the personal sacrifice a family would make to guide others safely home. Every lighthouse is a beautiful sight to those whose lives depended on them. This forlorn lighthouse brought safe passage home to generations of fisherman every night. The cottages at the top of the hill is where two families lived working in shifts to maintain this Lighthouse.See more..

This site is fabulous. East coast scenery at its best in the Campobello area. You can see Deer Island & Easport Maine from this site. Bring you binoculars & cameras. The day we were there the whales were also active in the bay. Low tide is essential in order to take in this site. You walk on the floor of the bay & rock outcroppings at low tide for access to the lighthouse. There are 3 sets of very steep stairs to access the ighthouse itself. Individuals should be aware that this trek to the lighthouse requires a lot of physical exertion. A small fee ($5) is applicable.See more..

Take the free ferry from Ingalls Head to White Island. Yes, it is free and you can take your car. Take the road to the right as you leave the ferry and follow signs to the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is not all that exceptional, but the beach there is stunning, a great place for a picnic and for beach combing. The cobble stones give way to blue-gray rocks along the shore. The coarse sand in some spots is also blue against a backdrop of yellow flowers. Definitely a highlight of our brief trip to Grand Manan Island!See more..

We took a small car ferry from Campobello island to Deer Island New Brunswick for a day trip. Leonardville lighthouse was difficult to fine but it is the sweetest cutest lighthouse. This was a really great place. Went for a walk around the sand bars as the tide was going out. There is a cute camping spot. A nice view of the confederation bridge and we even wandered around the old ferry docks to the old light house. I would like to come back and camp here one day :)See more..
