4.5Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple(946 reviews) - Our favourite temple ! Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
Originally we were gonna see 'Pura Gunung Kawi' temple with big statues but our driver got mixed up and took us to 'Gunung Kawi Sebatu' - both similar names and close to each other so easy to make mistake We were so happy though that we ended up here as at the time there was a local ceremony and to witness Balinese culture first hand was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Because of the ceremony the complex was decorated in stunning flowers, Balinese people were dressed up beautifully and women carried the fruit offerings on top of their heads. The whole place just looked MAGICAL, filled with burning incenses, clear water ponds, gorgeous carvings. Very peaceful temple not touristy as others.See more..
4.0Angel's Billabong(715 reviews) - Waves crashing against the jagged rocks. Friday: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Beaches
The road to it is very bad, potholes everywhere. This road is very bad for 1200 meters long. Angel's Billabong is close to Broken Beach, so you can combine these acts. Billabong means a dead end river. You can enjoy the view and the waves crashing against the jagged rocks beech. And you could take a dip in this 'pool'. This is not recommended!!!See more..
We do this walk since 10 years, and regret the continuous building in the ricefields. But it still remains our favourite place in Ubud, as there is always a breeze, and you can do such a lovely walk there. Some write the path stops, but that is not true, you can walk from Jl. Kajeng (or better you start at the right sight of Puri Museum Lukisan) and then all the way to a small bridge, there you turn left, and then you come back along Cafe Pomegranate. Some parts have steep egdes, but it is really lovely. This year we stayed at Sweet Orange Pondok for 4 nights, an absolute gem in this area, it's a warung but also a small boutique hotel. Just go there, it's lovely!See more..

This is actually a village that is really clean and beautiful, we can visit and meet the people who are living there at their own home. Some of them also sells traditional clothing and craftsmanship as well as foods & drinks. There is also a small temple at the back of the village. This place is worth a visit when you’re in Bali.See more..

4.5Giri Putri Cave(201 reviews) - Beautiful cavern, temple, and experience! Friday: 5:00 PM - 10:00 AM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Mysterious Sites • Religious Sites
Not very hard to find, but is not hard to drive past the sign and miss the parking lot with the warung across the street, you'll know you passed it and need to turn around. The climb up to the entrance is pretty as you can turn and see the beach, but the hike is steep. At the top you'll be greeted by local people asking for donation (common at other temples in Bali as well) and providing water/pictures. The opening is very tight, so make sure you're okay with about a 3 foot by 2 foot opening and it stays that tight for about 20 yards into the cave. It does open up A LOT after that so brave the claustrophobia for a bit and you'll be astounded at the view once inside. Only locals are allowed at the actual temple, however you can walk around and off the walkway to see some of the cave (we thought it was respectful, however to stay on the walkway), because once you get to the main portion (where the locals climb up to pray and give offering) the walkway ends, and you leave the walkway and leave a different way you came in. You don't have to climb back out the tiny opening, you'll end up walking out a gated area, and prepare for about 20 minutes walk around the mountain and through the community back to the parking lot. Amazing experience!See more..

4.0Renon Square(157 reviews) - I had a great afternoon run! Points of Interest & Landmarks
I can compare this to Bangkok's Lumpini Park. I had a great time running here. I'm not sure how big it is (forgot to check my smartwatch) but a good non-stop leisurely run took me 8 minutes from the main entrance and back to the same spot. It also gave me an additional boost as I am surrounded by like-minded people who are serious about physical fitness. The main structure also provided an awesome backdrop to the run!See more..
4.5Satria Gatotkaca Statue(138 reviews) - SATRIA GATOTKACA ART WORK Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
A beautiful piece of high-qualified art near the Ngurah Rai Airport of Bali. It is GATOTKACA, a tragic hero figure, half Rakshasa (human-eating monster giant) and one character from the epic Hindu Mahabharata. He sacrifices himself as a victim of the evil, dark Karna and his energy-devouring weapon, the Konta. Karna actually wanted to use this to kill the charismatic and best Pandawa warrior Arjuna. It is believed to lend spiritual protection and safety for all incoming and outgoing, flights.See more..
4.0Kusamba Traditional Salt Mining(73 reviews) - American Family with Pre-Teen Boys Learns something new Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is a very quick stop - 15-20min - at a beach side, traditional salt-mining location. Greet the locals with a smile and they will do their best to explain (or at least pantomime) the process that they go through to obtain the salt. Bring a translator along (Good Driver/Translator, Ketut - see TA) and you can get more out of the visit. Spend Rp50,000 on a souvenir and the locals will be happy - consider it your entrance fee! The black sand beach is very pretty here and we saw something we've never seen before - good stop.See more..
3.5Benoa Harbour(70 reviews) - An interesting Afternoon Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks

This is literally what I tried to build as a kid. Some adult went digging and tried to recreate a Hindu myth. He dug for 15 years and lived in his underground hole for 10. My facts may be off, but go see it for yourself. It's easy to find... it's the open lot. It's worth small amount of money to go down and have a look. I'm tall so it was uncomfortable. My phone's light wasn't great and the lights at the Underground House kept going off. So take a good flashlight and enjoy this unusual experience. See more..

4.0Gates of Heaven(38 reviews) - Stunning Points of Interest & Landmarks
We arrived about 3pm, and had 100 people before us. We had about a 1 hour wait for our turn, waiting in the shade of bales and watching people practice their poses, so quite entertaining. We ended up with about 10 stunning photos each, so extremely pleased. Please note: the images shown are false perspective as there is no water in the temple, however, the photographers do an excellent job with everyones cameras/phones. My tips: get there early as queues can be large. You are given a numbered ticket so are free to wander around until your number is called over the microphone. Bring your own sarong and selandang (belt), to to save renting. From the drop off point, the walk is about 500 metres up an extremely steep tarmaced road. Wear comfortable shoes. Take the cover off your phone in advance. Have an idea of your poses before it is your turn Great day, long wait but well worth it.See more..

4.5Eat Street(33 reviews) - Never dull! Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
This crazy street ran parallel to our accommodation, and so we walked up and down it a lot. It was never, ever dull and every time you go on it. You see something different. It was the centre of everyone as our evenings. Choose from one of the bars, happy hours, take a seat at the front and watch the chaos that ensued. How there is not a road, rage incident every couple of minutes, I do not know. Certainly, back home, people would not show the same amount of tolerance or patience, and it is nice to see. There are lots of bars and restaurants of varying quality and the usual amount of totes, trying to sell you anything from Viagra to corn on the cob! Take it in the right spirit, if you can ensure you visit, it and enjoyment is pretty much guaranteed!See more..

Thanks to our great tour guide Kadek Yosa of Keong Mas Bali Tours we found ourselves at My Swing. Although I didn’t take the plunge and try it, my two young adult children (23 & 26yrs) did and they loved it. I was happy to watch from the top at the entrance which still gave us a great view but nothing compared to what it was like while on the swing. Both raved about it after and if not for Kadek, I doubt we would have made the trip out especially as I hadn’t heard anything about it prior. See more..

4.0Desa Tenganan(17 reviews) - Where you find rare gringsing tenun Points of Interest & Landmarks
The people are so nice and friendly. They were preparing for the moonlight ceremony when I visited. There were some activities in their Banjar on that day. The houses are so ancient. They speak a different language from the normal Balinese and have slightly different tradition. Some houses sell traditional clothes. Their speciality is kain gringsing, which is very rare now. It takes years to complete from cotton to cloth. The design is always classic with typical colours of black, red, yellow, and white. It is natural dye, such as candle nuts. They use the ones which have already fallen from the trees. It took about 1.5 hours from Ubud where I was staying. The roads are smooth now. It is a must visit place in Bali.See more..
4.5Jambul Hill(16 reviews) - Guide the Client Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Jambil Hill is a tourist attraction in Pesaban Traditional Village, Desan Nongan, Rendang District. Bukit Jambul has been known since the Dutch colonial era in Indonesia. At that time Bukit Jambul with its beautiful scenery began to be of interest to visitors, especially tourists from the Netherlands. The name Bukit Jambul itself was obtained from tourists who visited at that time. The name is taken from the towering mountains located on the southern part of the road between the Klungkung and Besakih regencies. In the hills there is a temple called Pura Puncuk Sari, around the temple is overgrown with large and very dense trees. Then in the area or under the temple complex there are residents' rice fields. So from this the name Jambul Hill was created, because the dense forested peak hill looks like JambulSee more..
4.5Margarana Memorial Park(15 reviews) - Important Historic Site Points of Interest & Landmarks
While off the paths normally tread by tourists, this site is important in understanding the independence struggle. The site of a 1946 battle between Dutch and Balinese forces, the markers (they're not gravestones) indicate how many Balinese died for Indonesian independence (although only 96 were from the battle at Marga). Take the time to look for both the (very few) Christian crosses and the Japanese characters on some of the monuments - as Christians at that time in Bali were usually Eurasian and therefore nominally tied to the Dutch administration and the Japanese soldiers were those who refused repatriation, took Balinese names, and joined the struggle. A sobering place that is just as important to visit as the beaches and temples.See more..

4.5Pura Luhur Tambawaras(7 reviews) - Impressive and expansive Temple - mind the monkeys! Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
A very expansive temple complex, with an interesting history, as well as spectacular ocean views. A reasonable walk, and the paths are well-laid out so normal footwear is just fine. Very nice refreshment facilities near the main car park. Be aware of the monkeys - they will try to steal shiny things, or "attractive things" (which includes sunglasses!).See more..
3.5Pura Bukit Sari(6 reviews) - Lots of monkey business Points of Interest & Landmarks
It's a good rest-stop on the way to the temples in Bersakih and towards the volcano crater in Gunung Agung area. There's a lot of mosquitoes here so be prepared with bug repellents, etc. This place has swarms of monkeys that make the place their home. The monkeys are well behaved and know the catapault/sling shot will inflict pain on them so they run away when it's pointed at them. Alpha male monkeys are often the culprit leaders and will not touch food that's on the ground. They only take from human hands. Do not smile and show teeth... to the monkeys, it's interpreted as agression. Monkey business aside, the temple is still functional... but it's not a main attraction. Most of the statues are moss covered and there are plenty of tall and old trees that shade the area for a cool respite from the hot equitorial sun. The temple area can be entered only if you are going to offer prayers and flowers.See more..
