Visiting the Pasifika art collection is one of a time opportunity to relax in an oasis of tranquillity and to view an extraordinary collection of paintings and other artworks. It is housed in an exquisite modern Balinese building designed by Popo Danes, one of the most celebrated Balinese architect. There will be Indonesian and Balinese artworks but also numerous paintings by those bohemian artists who came from Europe and other parts of the world starting from the 1930s, succumbing to the spells of the enchanting tropical Island. Stroll in the well-manicured garden, take some selfies, taste local delicacies with a 'kopi Bali', and above all enjoy the art. For a complete Bali experience, come and visit Pasifika. See more..
  2. 4.5 Neka Art Museum (1.004 reviews)
    - Worth a look

    Neka Art Museum image
Overlooking a beautiful garden setting the Neka museum is the best place on the Island of Bali to enjoy high quality artworks by both Indonesian and foreign artists. You get to meander through traditional buildings laid out like a family compound, each one filled with various artworks from traditional to contemporary, to photography and more. The photography opportunities are endless, and there are lots of benches to sit and admire, plus each artwork is accompanied by information plaque to go with it. Total time will be around 2 hours give or take. There is a lot to admire. I was the only visitor as it is not really a popular location See more..
  3. 3.5 Le Mayeur Museum (408 reviews)
    - Lovely old museum with great wood panels

This small museum at the north end of Sanur Beach evokes a time of innocence and beauty before the introduction of relatively recent laws banning "immodest dress." Even more impressive than the paintings by the Belgian artist of the young Balinese dancer he married and her friends is the small mansion in which the art and artifacts are housed: a lovely example of Balinese architecture decorated with finely carved and gilded wooden shutters. 4. 4.0 Upside Down World (230 reviews)
    - Good for photos

    Upside Down World image
This place is your typical ‘Instagram photo op’. There are a few rooms and the staff tell you where to stand, what to do and where to look to get the best pics. They only use your phone/camera to take the pics so make sure you bring a good one. The whole experience lasts about 30 minutes but you get a few good photos. It’s a ‘do once to say you’ve done it’ kind of experience. See more..

I was looking for a nice quiet place in Ubud to spend some time and I was very lucky to have found this place! Beautiful area, and the museum itself, located in several different houses, is an amazing look into Indonesian culture, although there is a couple of other international cultures featured as well. But I was absolutely fascinated by the Balinese displays. Guides are present to share about the stories and history. And it was certainly quiet. Only a small handful of others wandering the area when I got there, and by the end I was the only one. Super tranquil and surrounded by beautiful well kept greenery to boot. Also free entrance, which was very generous. Highly recommend for a touch of Indonesian culture and nice little trip away from the hustle and bustle of central Ubud. See more..

The museum had an excellent female guide who could provide useful and insightful knowledge related to subak. Although there was not much to do, the place was also pretty good in maintenance. Definitely worth visiting at least once, especially if you're interested in agriculture or a sustainable lifestyle. See more..

  9. 4.0 Nyoman Gunarsa Museum of Classical and Modern Art (12 reviews)
    - A hidden gem of a museum near Klung Kung

Nyoman Gunarsa Museum of Classical and Modern Art image
A hidden gem that needs a lot of care. The entry is magnificent with 2 very tall statues. The hall looks unbelievable with more statues and great carved doors. The concierge needs improvement in English and how to help visitors. We desperately needed a guide to explain the paintings on the ground floor. The artwork was from the 16th century. A few had English writing but most did not. The next 2 floors were even better but this place needs much repair and maintenance. Please don’t let it fall, apart. The grounds are equally impressive but need TLC. Anyone wanting culture must visit. Highly recommended. See more..
