Cooling peaceful way to spend an afternoon

The former royal palace of Tirtagangga (which means water of the Ganges, Hinduism's holy river) features tiered fountains, gardens, and stone sculptures of mythical creatures spouting water into bathing pools. Just outside the palace grounds, the views of the lush rice paddies of northeastern Bali are stunning.

Cooling peaceful way to spend an afternoon
Stopped here while touring island. Paid £2.50 for entrance fee and brought some fish food at a stall to feed the koi carp. It was reasonably busy but not overcrowded and scenery is lovely for some photos. You can pay extra and swim in a large pool there which also has paddling pool for young children. Its fun feeding fish from the stepping stones. There is no temple to go inside so you dont need to cover your arms and legs. There are restaurants and toilets as well as a few shops at entrance and a cafe inside

Sadly the heavens opened as we arrived at this pretty water palace, making the ground slippery and moving around quite treacherous. We managed a few great photos which I am certain would have been much better taken in the sunshine. We fed the fish, of which there are many and they are enormous. It's a beautiful palace and gardens and somewhere I would definitely return to and spend more time there than I did, if I were to return in the sunshine. There are refreshment outlets there as well as a band playing easy listening music. Many great photo opportunities if you are brave enough to walk on the stepping stones or climb to where you need to be, but be extra careful if it's raining.
