- 5.0 Side By Side Organic Farm (39 reviews)
-Highlight of Our Holiday
Farms
It's hard to put to word our experience at Side by Side. Ketut was absolutely lovely throughout, teaching my partner and I about their invaluable work in the community. He was friendly, knowledgable, took all the time in the world for us.. he and his sister-in-law made some seriously delicious meals. The dinner banquet there is to die for. The place is incredibly grounding. So serene as the light fades and you get surrounded by this cocoon of forest sounds punctuated with the pin-pricks of firefly light. Blissful. Absolutely blissful. - 5.0 Dana's Paintings (6 reviews)
-Master Of The Light
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM Art Galleries
We have visited Dana S. many times in his exhibition rooms and his atelier as well. Over time we bought several big paintings which embellish our home in Bali. Dana S. is a master of creating wideness, tranquility and light. The different colors he uses in his paintings are overwhelmingly intense and are illuminating the painted scenes with a unique brightness. We love both him and his paintings. See more..
- 5.0 Jagasatru Waterfall (5 reviews)
-A beautiful waterfall in a wonderful location, with a relaxed atmosphere
Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
As long as you use your GPS to get you reasonably close by the waterfall is well marked and hard to miss. It's a bit of a narrow trail toward the end so if you're not confident on a scooter you can walk the last couple of hundred metres to the 'setting off' point, where you'll meet smiling helpful locals who seem genuinely pleased to meet you and grateful that you've come to visit their little corner of the world. From there it's down about 100-150 steep but very manageable steps to the waterfall itself. The surroundings are lush and green, and there's a wonderful feeling of peace and tranquility to the place. The water is chilly but very bathe-able, and it makes for great photographs. There is no entrance fee per-se but they do ask for donations, 10-20,000 per person should be sufficient. See more..

-Great bay for swimming and snorkelling!
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Beaches
Great bay for snorkelling and sunbathing. There are a lot of restaurants, especially on the south end of the bay, which have lounge chairs, showers, food and drink. We found the prices to be very reasonable with a large Bintang coming in at IDR 40K. Great price considering the location! See more..
- 4.5 Lipah Beach (323 reviews)
-Gorgeous black sand beach
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
A lovely beach with a laid-back feel, beautiful clear warm water, and excellent snorkelling. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels here, but there's no busy vibe like other oceanfront locations in Bali. Take a boat ride in a traditional jukung for fishing, snorkelling, diving, or to see the sunset in the next bay. The locals are friendly and there's no problem with being hassled, like other beaches. At the moment there are turtles residing here, which you can see with a simple snorkeling journey not far from the shore. In some spots it's a little rocky, and beach shoes are helpful - but if you head out just in front of Warung Indah, its sand all the way. Love this beach, and have returned again and again! - 4.0 Amed Beach (474 reviews)
-Loved everything about Amed
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Beaches
I have been to a lot of beach towns in my travels and I have to say, Amed is absolutely one of my favourites! The beach itself is volcanic black sand so if you are looking for the fine powder you won't find it here. The beach is very clean and water warm. What you will find here is an incredible town full of amazing people. The vibe is very relaxed. You can sit and watch the seaside life of the Balinese in action. The main road is filled with amazing little warungs which are incredibly well priced. We didn't find this town overly touristy and it is NOTHING like the craziness of south Bali. We absolutely loved our stay in Amed. Our only regret is that we discovered it at the end of our three month trip to Bali so only stayed 5 nights. We will definitely be back for an extended stay. See more..

- 4.0 Virgin Beach (278 reviews)
-Best beach
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Beaches
Definitely the best beach in the east Bali, very clean, white sand, not crowded, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Entrance fee is 10k per person and is totally worth paying. There are some pushy sellers that would stand next to you and only leave after multiple “no thank yous” but that’s probably the thing everywhere. See more..
- 4.0 Lotus Lagoon (151 reviews)

- 4.0 Gates of Heaven (38 reviews)
-Stunning
Points of Interest & Landmarks
We arrived about 3pm, and had 100 people before us. We had about a 1 hour wait for our turn, waiting in the shade of bales and watching people practice their poses, so quite entertaining. We ended up with about 10 stunning photos each, so extremely pleased. Please note: the images shown are false perspective as there is no water in the temple, however, the photographers do an excellent job with everyones cameras/phones. My tips: get there early as queues can be large. You are given a numbered ticket so are free to wander around until your number is called over the microphone. Bring your own sarong and selandang (belt), to to save renting. From the drop off point, the walk is about 500 metres up an extremely steep tarmaced road. Wear comfortable shoes. Take the cover off your phone in advance. Have an idea of your poses before it is your turn Great day, long wait but well worth it. See more..
- 4.0 Pasar Agung Temple (30 reviews)
-Beautiful
Religious Sites
A very interesting temple to visit. You need to be reasonably fit as there is a lot of walking and some steady uphill inclines. But when you get to the top it is well worth the effort to get there. The plus point is what goes up must come down, a steady walk down gives you the opportunity to take in the scenery. Entry fee is 60,000 IRp. See more..
- 4.0 Candi Dasa (21 reviews)
-Becoming a favourite
Neighborhoods
My second visit this year and becoming a favourite for us. Candidasa is like a smaller version of Sanur - there is plenty of great beach side accommodation of all standards. There is plenty of good restaurants within the area , many of which will pick you up for dinner and drop off. Candidasa is a relaxing spot to do nothing too plus opportunities for water activities from snorkeling to fishing as well. Only about an hour from Sanur , about half an hour or so from Amed and plenty of attractions nearby to organise a good day tour. See more..

- 4.0 Desa Tenganan (17 reviews)
-Where you find rare gringsing tenun
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The people are so nice and friendly. They were preparing for the moonlight ceremony when I visited. There were some activities in their Banjar on that day. The houses are so ancient. They speak a different language from the normal Balinese and have slightly different tradition. Some houses sell traditional clothes. Their speciality is kain gringsing, which is very rare now. It takes years to complete from cotton to cloth. The design is always classic with typical colours of black, red, yellow, and white. It is natural dye, such as candle nuts. They use the ones which have already fallen from the trees. It took about 1.5 hours from Ubud where I was staying. The roads are smooth now. It is a must visit place in Bali. See more..

-Watchout with the seller
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
Over a thousand years old, Besakih Temple is known as the "Mother Temple of Bali". Perched on the slopes of Mount Agung, at a lofty 1000 metres (3000 feet)Pura Besakih is the paramount Hindu temple on Bali. Located high on the slopes of the volcano Mt. Agung, it has developed over more than a thousand years into a great complex of 22 separate temples, the largest and central being Pura Penataran Agung. The annual cycle of more than 70 rituals, which symbolically link the temples into a whole, culminates in the centenary ceremony called Ekadasa Rudra, last held in 1979. The temple complex, state-supported since the 15th century, has undergone a series of architectural and ritual changes. See more..
