The waterfall isn't quite as incredible as the hype, but it is worth visiting. Ignore the signs in the village that indicate it is 7 km away. It is a cool 4 km from the pier and easily walkable in regular shoes or sandals. Just follow the arrow and keep going straight. This isn't a hike... it is just a dirt road (occasionally paved). There is another little waterfall if you continue walking past the main one, I don't think the admission fee is collected on-site anymore, but you might want to bring 25,000 IDR per person in case that starts up again. I completed the 3D2N hike from Sembalun to Torean. I can definitely recommend the Torean route since it is beautiful and passes a lot of diverse areas such as forests, rivers and there are constantly stunning views since you walk a trail over the slope of the mountain. Besides that, it is a quite doable route without extremely steep ascents or descents (after the summit). It is also safer than the route to Senaru because there is dangerous rockfall and landslides after heavy rainfall. The hike to the summit is really tough, but there are opportunities to enjoy the views from places a little lower which is just as beautiful or sometimes even better. Serendipity - how to end up on a remote island in Indonesia? They say chance doesn't exist and all is planned. By chance we ended up with Evert and his team on this beautiful island. Even though the project is still being created, the cabins and dive school were wonderful. The program included dives, a stay in airconditioned cabins, all inclusive, 3 meals a day and excursions on the island. The women who cooked for us managed to give us a different meal every single day twice a day and breakfast was excellent. the team was very flexible and we were able to see many of the dive sites and explored a new site just off the coast. Diving in the morning, lunch, relax or excursion in the afternoon. It was a total relaxing experience, definitely worth repeating. See more..

We went to Lakey Peak for two weeks knowing nothing about how to surf. We got two lessons from Firman and what do you know, now we're standing up on the board and even catching small waves! There are 2 entrances to the beach. One looks a bit weird and it seems you are at a wrong place, the other one is more welcoming. We got surf lesson from local guys, 400k for 2 for 2 hours. We had a great couple of days lazing at Warung Turtle on Tanjung Aan Beach. About 15 minutes by car from Kuta. IDR 10000 to park your car or scooter all day and under cover. The beach was very clean and the sand soft and white. Not too busy in January as low season. We got 2 beach chairs and a beach shack. Nice cold drinks from Warung Turtle and lovely food. Lots of people selling stuff but you don't have to buy anything, just a pleasant " No Thankyou." I didn't feel pestered at all. There are lots of dogs roaming around but they didn't bother us. Lots of surfers heading out to the reef but a really beautiful beach for swimming. See more..

We visited Gili Nanggu in January 2016 and loved it. i was interested to see if it was still as good 4 years later and it is. We did a day trip from Kuta Lombok and the snorkelling was actually better than 4 years ago. The coral has grown more and there are still relatively few visitors, especially in January. The were only about 4 to 5 other boats when we were there. The fish life is still healthy and the beach was very clean. There are still little huts where you can put your bags, towels etc and there were plenty of bins around. This time around I even found the harbour where the small boats go from a lot cleaner. The walk to these two waterfalls (Tiu Kelep and Sindang Gila) is a good couple of hours round trip and well worth it. Absolutely breathtaking scenery and swimming in Sindang Gila is unforgettable. There's a cave behind the falls that is nice to climb into and it is so refreshing to swim there after the hike you won't want to leave. Watch for wild monkeys on the way and be careful walking up the river, it can be a bit dangerous at times. This little trek is a nice warm up for climbing Mt Rinjani and you get to enjoy plenty of exposure along the way. Don't miss these waterfalls if you're in the area. I was visited this island when the island is inhibited, but dont worry, the local goverment builds few cottages and facilities along the island now, hope it's going to open next year so you dont need bring tents to spent the night in this tiny island. Went here on a tour with Kencana Adventure Komodo Trip, the island is so small, with diameter just around 700 meters. Has a white sand all over the island, and in the center grows many Coconut trees. There is a couple who stay there during daylight, they sell young coconut and some instant noodles. The price for the coconut is less then 1 USD or 10.000 rupiahs. The beach was lovely, and you can snorkel there, but be aware because the current is quite strong in the middle. Rarely people go here, so the island and the coral still consider a virgin. Tips: 1. Bring money, the couple is poor and old, you can help them by buying the coconut. It taste good also. 2. If you are an amateur snorkel, you may need a guide. 3. Dont litter in the island. See more..

We initially planned to visit Pantai Madalika Kuta, Pantai Aan and Pantai Mawun. When we arrived to Pantai Mandalika Kuta we were disappointed that development has crept on. The beach is still lovely but it was not what we expected. We then diverted towards Pantai Aan and found that the access road was closed (construction of the MotoGP circuit and facilities we reckon). Our driver then decided to bring us to Pantai Mawun. IT WAS AH-MA -ZING!!!! Beautiful cove. Aquamarine waters of different shades, some fishermens’ boats. Few people except locals and 2 Spanish speaking visitors. A little sad to look at d amount of rubbish that was brought by the waters .... but the water is still lovely. Do visit this beach as soon as possible. With MotoGP starting here in 2021 things will be way different soon. See more..
