One of the best vacations, if not the best, I’ve had. Traveling solo, not sure what to expect, needn’t have worried. Other guests were so much fun. Tammy, Jerry and gang made you feel welcome. Like staying at a favorite aunt and uncle’s house when you were young. There is LOTS of riding, and riding, and riding. Then more riding. If you choose not to ride one day, no problem. Tammy taught me how to make cheese the day I stayed in. Horses are sure and steady with excellent ground manners and work ethic. Cabins are large and beautifully decorated with great water pressure, cold a/c and a handy small refrigerator. The food is plentiful, varied and delicious Tammy goes the extra mile to accommodate special dietary needs. The laughs and lively conversations are also plentiful and completely non-fattening. Could go on and on with the raves. Would I go back? You bet.See more..

5.0College World Series(35 reviews) - Classic college sports experience Sporting Events
I did not pick the right CWS to attend. The heat index was over 100 degrees and my team got blown out in historic fashion. Still, the CWS is a fun event. All the teams have fans here but it's a less competitive atmosphere compared to football or basketball. Since Omaha has always been the home of the CWS, there's a sense that it's a destination event like the Rose Bowl. The stadium itself is also a good one for the event. Modern with a nice downtown view and large enough, with good sightlines from most of the seats.See more..

5.0Rocky Hollow Buffalo Company(16 reviews) - Amazing family experience we will remember forever! Spent 1-2 hours Farms • Ranches
Wow, we cant say enough about Rocky Hollow! What an amazing experience for our kids (and us!)! Rick, the host, was amazing. So funny and hospitable. The area we had to park was spacious and level, overlooking the ranch and herd. He showed us where we could take a hike and look for wildlife. He even let our kids get up with him and bottle feed the calves! We bought some bison burgers and summer sausage and had those for dinner, so delicious! We slept with the windows open and heard the coyotes howling at night! The highlight was the tour! Make sure to do the tour! Rick took us out in the truck into the herd where we got to meet and hand feed the buffalo. He told us so much about the ranch, the animals, the industry, all so fascinating. And he made it so much fun for our kids. Rocky Hollow will be something we remember forever!See more..
5.0World's Largest Porch Swing(16 reviews) - Great little attraction and really friendly neighbors! Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
We stopped by, and a man from the senior housing across the street came and gave us a pin with a picture of the swing on it. He told us a little about it, and there's an informational sign, too. The swing itself was a fun place to take pictures -- from one end to the next, lying down, all into one frame, etc. It's very well made and looks like someone keeps it clean, and since it has a roof over it, there weren't any bird droppings to wipe off before sitting down.See more..
5.0Calamus Outfitters(16 reviews) - Tour Group Highlights Nature & Wildlife Tours
I was fortunate enough to be a co-guide for a group of 14 that toured the Switzer Ranch with Sarah, Bruce and Adam. Our Sundowner Ecotour was a great way for our entire group to be introduced to the ranching culture and to ask questions about the innovative conservation techniques that support habitats and grazing. We did two mornings out on the leks, and it was an eye-opener for the group to sit in the darkness as the morning prairie chorus came alive and then to watch Greater Prairie Chicken and Sharp-tailed Grouse start their displays in the morning light. Definitely worth a visit...See more..

5.0Nissen Wine(12 reviews) - Great Wines + Nice Winery + Local History! Wineries & Vineyards
Decided on an afternoon road trip to a few local wineries and happened upon Nissen. This place did not disappoint. The venue itself is nice in a quiet country setting overlooking their vineyard but the real stars were the wines themselves. We ended up tasting everything on their wine list and walked out with 6 although it could have been more. There was not one either red or white that I didn't like. Yes I noted the wines as the star but their very own Sommelier that I am so disappointed I did not get her name was outstanding. She knew absolutely everything about their selection and in detail gave us the history of the Outlaw Trail series. Her knowledge was deep about every fruit and its origin along with the entire history of the area. We will be on the lookout for their wines locally but plan to go back and bring friends to the winery.See more..
5.0Anne Marie's(12 reviews) - Thanks Nebraska Passport! Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops • Antique Shops I stopped at Anne Marie's because it was on the Nebraska Passport this year. Bone Creek Museum is small, to say the least. Two rooms--all the space there is in this great little building. Front room displays the "featured artist" and back room has selections from the permanent collection. Can't say much for David City, although there is a Veterans "museum" just a few steps away from Bone Creek and the appreciation of the lady running this museum is worth the stop. I dont think she gets many visitors. There are also several nice little wineries within 20-40 minutes of David City. So combine a wine tasting and and quick museum tour for a very nice little outing. We liked Mackovicka Winery and their $5, 5 tastes, and very friendly owner.See more..
5.0Midwest Theater(12 reviews) - Enjoyed the show! Spent 1-2 hours Movie Theaters • Theatre & Performances

This is a great park and home of a large playground called Kids Kingdom. There is a beautiful flower garden and plenty of picnic tables. See more..
We loved this place. The art work was great but we actually fell in love with the building. The vault is so cool! The owner was so nice and helped us pick out some sweet wines. Loved and ended up taking home a bottle of the Apple Raspberry wine. Also strongly suggest you try the cinnamon whiskey served with Apple soda. It was AMAZING. There was a 12 string guitarist there that night. He was very social a long with being a wonderful musician. He is there every 2nd Saturday of the month. Really need to check this place out! See more..
I stop at this wonderful little bookstore every time I pass through Valentine. The owner obviously keeps up with current trends in reading. The selection of Nebraska, Western, and Native American books is especially good (and what I care about). The shop also offers a range of high-quality gifts including toys, wine, tea, coffee, art, etc. Staff is friendly.See more..
5.0Broken Spoke Boutique(10 reviews) - 10/10 Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
Located in Valentine, Nebraska—one of America's 100 Best Adventure Towns according to National Geographic—Broken Spoke Boutique is an adventure in and of itself. The boutique's building was originally constructed in 1915 as Nebraska State Bank and operated as such until the bank closed its doors in 1964. Over the next 50 years, as businesses came and went, so did the building's charm. Its beautifully crafted characteristics were covered up, including its tin tile ceiling, fir hardwood, and mosaic hexagon tile floor. Whitney Mayhew, a South Carolina native, moved to Valentine in 2016 and immediately recognized the town's charm. Inspired by Charleston's beauty and architectural allure, she saw potential in the building and began to expose the features that time and the community had forgotten. Throughout the remodel process, Whitney made sure to utilize many elements of early twentieth century design and made it a priority to emphasize the workmanship of the era.See more..
My husband and I did the parasailing over the weekend and the weather was beautiful for it. We both had never been parasailing before and it was such a peaceful experience in the air. I will say the best part of the whole thing, though, was the crew. Scott and Lance were awesome and fun. I would highly recommend this place. They offer jet ski rentals, boat rentals, kayaks, at reasonable prices! - if we are ever back in the area, we will 100% rent from here again!See more..
5.0Volcanic Peppers(10 reviews) - Great sauces and spices! Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
This is a small little shop with hidden treasures inside. The shop itself is not in a super easy place to get to, but it's worth it to stop it. It's not much to look at it and it's a bit of a hole in the wall. However, inside you will find some of the best local hot sauces that I have ever tried. Lots of sauces to choose from ranging from mild to super hot. He has barbecues, ketchups and even mustard sauces. You can also find some spices including volcanic dusts to add a kick to any dish. There are also homemade salsas which are great as well. Stop in, you can try any of his products before you buy. The gentleman that owns the place is always cooking up new recipes for sauces, if you are lucky you might get a sneak preview of a new creation. He's always nice, helpful and likes to chat. Credit cards accepted!See more..
