We enjoyed the hospitality, food and our server, who also happened to be a Walleye Fisher Girl who had just caught a huge one a couple of days earlier. My friend got bragging rights on this visit with an 11 1/2 pound monster of 31 1/2". We had a great time eating and visiting. Will be back again. See more..

We go to The Midwest Theater regularly. They show retro and current movies as well as live musical events. The building has been restored beautifully and the volunteer staff is friendly and helpful. They offer reasonably priced concessions abd the popcorn is great! We have always been pleased with our experiences at The Midwest. See more..
  3. 4.5 Listening Room (3 reviews)
    - Great venue, great talent
    Theatre & Performances
We recently attended a concert at the brand new venue for The Listening Room . . The Loft. This is a BEAUTIFUL facility. Beautifully refurbished with a smallish stage (I understand it can. . Or will. . Be expanded) with good sound and lighting, a lovely vintage bar, cozy reserved tables and rows of chairs for seating. The Listening Room brings in artists from afar as well as more local talent. The music tends towards folk, with lots of original compositions. See more..
  4. 5.0 The Tassel Performing Arts Center (2 reviews)
    - A cultural jewel in the middle of the farm country!

The Tassel Performing Arts Center image
Holdrege, Nebraska, is a small farming town where I didn't expect to find a theater as nice as the Tassel - this 800-plus-seat facility with its large stage and enjoyable acoustics reminds me of the PACE Center closer to home in Colorado, with its beautiful lobby decorated with paintings and a lifesize bronze sculpture, "The Joy of Music", by George W. Lundeen. A Holdrege resident told me that the five figures singing and playing were all modeled by himself and family members. The arts are very important there, as evidenced by the numbers of helpful volunteers at the concert we attended (Al Stewart with Dave Nachmanoff), and the networking of the Tassel with other nearby facilities, such as the Minden Opera House and the Merryman Center in Kearney - ticket stubs for any event at one site gets you a discount on tickets at any of the others. I can guarantee that should an event, or just another vacation plan take us through Nebraska, the Kearney-Holdrege-Minden area will see us again! See more..
