5.0Anne Marie's(12 reviews) - Thanks Nebraska Passport! Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops • Antique Shops I stopped at Anne Marie's because it was on the Nebraska Passport this year. What a wonderful surprise! The historic train station and elevator have been restored and repurposed for antiques and coffee (the scone was delicious). I will be making this shop a regular stop on my interstate treks!See more..

I stop at this wonderful little bookstore every time I pass through Valentine. The owner obviously keeps up with current trends in reading. The selection of Nebraska, Western, and Native American books is especially good (and what I care about). The shop also offers a range of high-quality gifts including toys, wine, tea, coffee, art, etc. Staff is friendly.See more..
5.0Volcanic Peppers(10 reviews) - Great sauces and spices! Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
This is a small little shop with hidden treasures inside. The shop itself is not in a super easy place to get to, but it's worth it to stop it. It's not much to look at it and it's a bit of a hole in the wall. However, inside you will find some of the best local hot sauces that I have ever tried. Lots of sauces to choose from ranging from mild to super hot. He has barbecues, ketchups and even mustard sauces. You can also find some spices including volcanic dusts to add a kick to any dish. There are also homemade salsas which are great as well. Stop in, you can try any of his products before you buy. The gentleman that owns the place is always cooking up new recipes for sauces, if you are lucky you might get a sneak preview of a new creation. He's always nice, helpful and likes to chat. Credit cards accepted!See more..
5.0Broken Spoke Boutique(10 reviews) - 10/10 Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
Located in Valentine, Nebraska—one of America's 100 Best Adventure Towns according to National Geographic—Broken Spoke Boutique is an adventure in and of itself. The boutique's building was originally constructed in 1915 as Nebraska State Bank and operated as such until the bank closed its doors in 1964. Over the next 50 years, as businesses came and went, so did the building's charm. Its beautifully crafted characteristics were covered up, including its tin tile ceiling, fir hardwood, and mosaic hexagon tile floor. Whitney Mayhew, a South Carolina native, moved to Valentine in 2016 and immediately recognized the town's charm. Inspired by Charleston's beauty and architectural allure, she saw potential in the building and began to expose the features that time and the community had forgotten. Throughout the remodel process, Whitney made sure to utilize many elements of early twentieth century design and made it a priority to emphasize the workmanship of the era.See more..
4.5Main Street Market(7 reviews) - Great quick lunch stop Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
Deli sandwiches were amazing! We had the glory hunter (sweet bologna recommend by the friendly owner) and the chicken salad on fresh baked wheat bread. Both were excellent. We also grabbed some cherry sours and peanut butter cups from the extensive old fashion candy selection. It was a perfect quick diversion on our road trip.See more..
Do not miss this shop if you're visiting the area. This is what I crave when visiting somewhere new, a quaint local shop that defines a town's character. They provide high quality products at very reasonable prices. Along with excellent products they also provide some of the best service you can expect with advice, know how, and samples. As a bonus, be sure to ask for Molly, she's a cutie that loves her pets.See more..

5.0The Madrid General Store(4 reviews) - Neat Small Town Store Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
This store was a stop on the 2020 Nebraska Passport tour. We had not been to Madrid before so my wife and I were looking forward to visiting the town. The store seems to be fairly new compared to other business in the area. There is a nice porch on which you can relax and unwind. The store has a wide variety of items for sale and we purchased some candies, teas, and I even found some soft winter wheat flour for biscuit making. There were also gift items and everything you would need on a trip to the store. There was a large selection of books for sale including many children's book. You usually don't see this in small town stores. Since Madrid is located in a sparsely populated area of the State, I'm sure that the residents of the area appreciate this business. The homemade items all looked delicious and prices were very reasonable. This was a very nice stop on the passport program. It was fun to visit a town we had never been to before.See more..

I stopped by and decided that they needed a little more pictures for their shop. The owner told me they are close to road 10 on the Hwy 71. Can't miss the signs. She sells a lot of homemade jams and jellies and honey...etc. A must see, very informative. She also told me they are doing things for different schools to teach the kids about bees and the importance of having them. She also does the farmers markets close to home, so if you venture out, stop by and check out the shop and don't forget to pet Lokie and Max the shop greeters :^)See more..

5.0Art & Jerry's Boot Shop(2 reviews) - Art and Jerry's Boot shop - what a find! Speciality & Gift Shops Driving through Alliance on our way back from visitng Carhenge - that's another review! - we stopped off to have a look around as we were interested in the old brick buidings and general Art Deco look of the place. We came across Art and Jerry's boot shop, 406 Box Butte, and found an Aladdins Cave stuffed full of jeans, cowboy boots and other western gear. The owner took over from his father many years ago and I don't think things have changed much in that time (not even prices as the boots I bought were a bargain). Great service too. Highly reccomended if you are in the area.See more..

4.0TTM Toys(2 reviews) - Toy Shop & Mini Museum Speciality & Gift Shops
TTM TOYS is an old fashioned toy store with the small town feel that families love to visit when they travel. Take your time to stroll around or visit with the owners about your trip. The latest fun addition to our store is our very own TOY MUSEUM inside the store. See lots of fun displays that let you take a stroll down memory lane as you walk around. The displays will remind you of favorite movies, games, television shows you grew up with, etc. See a timeline and discover when some of today's popular toys first hit the market. 3.0Heavenly Treasures(1 review) - Lots of choices Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
Fabric/notion store with a ton of fabric. Unfortunately it could use some organization. Some of the fabric bolts are 2 deep, which makes it really hard to see the ones in back. The staff was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Because it is an old building, it has that old building smell, along with uneven floors and weirdly shaped steps. Found some unique items and they have lots of pattern examples too, so the hunt was fruitful. See more..
A friend said that she had heard that brown sheep had an outlet here at their home site. So we took the extremely Pleasant and pretty drive off of 80 up to Brown Sheep Company on our way from Denver to Wisconsin and spent a really nice time here. The staff was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable, and the grandson of the founder spent a lot of time helping me with yarn and visiting with my husband about hunting and fishing. They have a nice display of knives for sale as well if your husband isn't into yarn, but wants to look at something while he's waiting. The yarn in the outlet is seconds, and $15 a pound, except if it's hand-painted and then it's $30 a pound. I walked away with a big bag of roving for $7.50 and a big bag of yarn, and spent about $50. They will go down and get firsts for you if you want them and those are more expensive. Definitely a fun drive and a fun store.See more..

5.0Burwell Pharmacy(1 review) - Quite a place Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops
I needed to get something from a pharmacy on a recent trip to Burwell, Nebraska, and I did find what I was looking for; however, this business had so many things to look at, I just had to go back and spend some time browsing around the store to take it all in. I got a pair of brightly colored socks for a friend of mine, and ones that had cameras on them for me. There were items for the University of Nebraska, toys for the kids that, in tune with the area, were geared to rodeo, and farming. Everywhere I looked there was something grabbing my attention - and, of course, there were the pharmacy items as well that were in plentiful supply. The people at the pharmacy were extremely pleasant and helpful, and I could tell from their customer service with the local people who came in, that they valued each person. If you are ever in Burwell, stop by and see this store - you will have a real treat in store for you.See more..
