4.5Valentine City Park(3 reviews) - Nice city campground Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Playgrounds
I stayed here during a trip on my motorcycle. There are several campsites along the creek that flows through the park, mostly oriented to small RVs. I found a nice site across the bridge, and for $5 it was perfect. Heck even at 5 times the price I would have been ok. There is a public toilet facility with running hot water and even showers. It a short walk into town. My site had a fire ring but I didn't bother with a campfire. I was really tired so after a trip to town I hit the sack. It was quiet and felt safe. See more..

4.0Cheyenne State Recreation Area(1 review) - Place for a picnic Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water • Parks • Playgrounds While driving along I-80 it's easy to get sucked into the monotony of guardrails and fast food. However, within feet of Interstate exit 300 is a state rec area with picnic tables, a lake, and even a bit of nature. Get off the highway and have a picnic. If you didn't bring food, pick up lunch from the Subway at the same exit and bring it to the rec area; it's much better than eating at the gas station Subway!See more..
5.0Auburn City Recreation Complex(1 review) - Great camping stay in late October! Parks • Playgrounds This was a great find for us! The recreation complex is beautiful and well maintained. There wasn't anyone in the office when we were there, so we left a message and dropped our money envelope in their mail slot. The camping area has electric and water and a dump station. The complex has a huge ball field and has many other activities listed on their website. The park was empty when we were there, the sites are level, lots of green grass, and beautiful trees this time of year. While camping a local guy came in with his little girl and set up their 5th-wheel for the weekend. We inquired about a place to eat in Auburn and about buying firewood. He told us they didn't sell firewood in the town, but he went home and returned with a bundle of his OWN wood for our stay! We Love small towns!! We would definitely stay again if passing through. We travel in a motorhome with a tow vehicle.See more..
