    Purchased tickets for 9 p.m. and didn’t get to the gate until 10:30, and I know some people had to wait much longer than us. The show itself was decently entertaining, but we wouldn’t have made the two-hour drive for the show had we known we’d have to wait as long as we did. I think too many tickets were sold by organizers. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing tickets too far in advance, as you may end up changing your mind on the day you’re planning to go because the wait will be long and refunds are difficult to come by.     What could possibly be more fun than flying a kite? Flying dozens of kites and talking to many people who are flying hundreds of them. Just go. Take the Labor Day weekend and go to Central Nebraska and enjoy the scenery, kites and wonderful people. See more..

    You'll stay and eat in Chadron, but the show is a few miles west in the Crawford city park. Rockhounds gather in late August with open air tables to share their hobby stories, skills, swap or sell raw materials like Fairburn agates, jaspers, gems. Daily field trips into local geologic formations to find collectible stone. This is all put together smoothly and attractively by local experts who clearly have years of experience. Kids love the colorful displays, casual visitors will learn so much about the scenic terrain and formations of western Nebraska, and dedicated hobby folks can find no better source of inspiration and supply. My wife and I travel close to 1000 miles just to be here for a few days each year. Be sure to bring rock from your own home areas to share at this event. It is great fun. See more..
