I started purchasing art from the COOP Gallery during the 1970s. My older brother and I were students at Creighton and we would buy our parents Christmas gifts from the COOP. I have continued to purchase their art over the years and have several pieces in my flat. If your looking for art made by locals, visit the COOP in The Old Market. There are works that suit many sensibilities.See more..
4.5Robert Henri Museum(14 reviews) - A Must-See for Art Lovers - Much Improved in Recent Years Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries • Speciality Museums • Art Museums
I visited the museum years ago and was unimpressed. I visited again last week and I'm still stunned that this is the same place. Back in the day, they had no real Henri work of any note. Now they have a detached, climate-controlled facility boasting seven substantial Henri paintings and thirty-three sketches. Instead of untrained volunteers who made very basic mistakes, one sees copious captions through most rooms and several informative articles posted along with a modest research center, making a visit a real educational experience. The use of several rooms as gallery space for contemporary artists is a plus as well. In short, the powers that be have put quality resources into this site. They deserve all reasonable plaudits - along with your visit.See more..
We loved this place. The art work was great but we actually fell in love with the building. The vault is so cool! The owner was so nice and helped us pick out some sweet wines. Loved and ended up taking home a bottle of the Apple Raspberry wine. Also strongly suggest you try the cinnamon whiskey served with Apple soda. It was AMAZING. There was a 12 string guitarist there that night. He was very social a long with being a wonderful musician. He is there every 2nd Saturday of the month. Really need to check this place out! 4.5Wildwood Historic Center(8 reviews) - Great Experience Art Galleries • Speciality Museums • History Museums
This was one of the most enjoyable and educational tours of it's kind I have been on in years! I have paid three times as much for a tour at other locations and got half as much information and interaction that I got on this tour. The docent was dressed in period apparel and was very knowledgable about the house and the families that once lived there. Her friendly manner and being open to questions was refreshing. She gave us wonderful specifics on items in the house as well as on the grounds. We went on a cold October day so the Victorian garden was no longer in bloom, but i can imagine that with the statuary and fountains that garden is beautiful in the summer months. On the grounds there is also a wonderful shop that hosts the art of different area artists as well as a classroom. My wife and I loved the tour and are planning on bringing our girls the next time we are in Nebraska City.See more..
