We walked here through the beautiful forest. At 2 euros to enter it was a bargain. For those who don't fancy climbing the winding stairs, you can take the lift to the penultimate floor. You can look through the windows and marvel at the view but if you want to go on to the roof you have to climb a steep staircase. It is steep as my husband descended backwards! It is well worth it the views are stunning. You can see over Tampere, see both lakes and see if you can spot the Finlayson. We walked back along the lake shore, stopping to watch the red squirrels. Then sitting to take full advantage of the tranquillity, watching the colours of the lake change and breathing in the scent of the pine trees. Well worth a visit.See more..

I took at look at this place last August and people were coming out from it and having a nice cold swim in the lake. It was cold weather then and i just manged to pop my feet in. I was there again this February as I had to see for myself that people go from the sauna and into the lake through an ice hole...and yes they do. Probably the Finnish people do not find this strange at all, but I was wrapped up in loads of layers and would not even contemplate it! However, it was a Saturday afternoon and was "buzzing " with willing customers, there was a roaring trade and the car park was full. Not for me, but very attractive for many. A really cool place to visit even if only to spectate.See more..

Tyrvään Pyhän Olavin kirkko is a very beautiful medieval stone church, built on a scenic location by the lake according to typical Finnish church architecture of the middle ages. However, what makes it completely unique is the interior and the story; the church was burnt to the ground in the 1990’s – and re-built by the community by hand. Instead of setting up replicas of the destroyed interior, two contemporary artists were given the task of re-creating medieval church paintings in contemporary style, but with medieval motifs and purpose. The interior paintings make this church a unique masterpiece. PRO TIP: In the summer season, bring a picnic and enjoy the lovely location of the church. You can also arrive by boat. PRO TIP2: There are a lot of other historic and interesting things to see and do in Sastamala!See more..
