The Finlayson area is located by the Tammerkoski rapids. It was founded in 1820 by James Finlayson from Scotland. He noticed the energy potential of free rapids. The Finlayson textile manufacturing ended in Tampere at the beginning of the 1990s. The old factory buildings are left. Today there are museums, offices, bars, restaurants, a movie theater, and a shopping center. This summer, you can find Finland’s first rooftop walk on the roofs of these historic buildings. Loved our stay at this lovely homely B and B. The house is 1960s architect designed, airy light and spacious, it feels like you are staying in the hostesses home and you are treated as a special guest. The rooms are clean and full of interest in a quirky way. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and much of it homemade. Highly recommended for a few nights stay in this delightful part of Finland. We stopped here and it was just starting to snow, I was walking around and admiring the Church's architecture and all the graves.I realized it was for the hero's that had died in past wars. It is a place that touches your heart no matter where you come from in the world. I did not go into the church but just looking and reading the graves makes you realize what price was paid for our freedom.See more..
2.0Paivaanniemen kalmisto(1 review) - Historiaan maantienvarrella Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
Pyhäjärven rannalla sijaitsee rautakautinen röykkiökalmisto. Paikka on helppo löytää opastekyltein, mutta itse hautaröyhkiöt onkin sitten vaikeampia hahmottaa. Paikka kaipaisi hieman enemmän informaatiota, jotta ymmärtäisi, mikä kivistä on hautaröyhkiö ja mikä vain kivi.See more..
