- 5.0 Long Sheng's Dragon Spine Rice Terraces (72 reviews)
-Trek to Dazai Village (大寨 ) and Jinkeng Rice Terrace (金坑红瑶梯田)
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The trek to Dazai and Jinkeng Rice Terraces took more than 4 hours. It is a challenging trek along narrow mountain trails. The scenery however more than compensate for the stress on the knees due to the stone slabs trails. My guide, Mr Liao a Zhuang minority and the father in law of the Baike hotel owner walks like he is on a sunday stroll. He has to slow down considerably for me. See more..

- 4.5 Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge (91 reviews)
-Stay a night after Longji
Architectural Buildings • Bridges
I wouldn't visit from Guilin, but from the rice terraces it was worthwhile. I stayed two nights, but one night would've been enough if you leave the next day later in the afternoon. The bridge is best enjoyed early morning or at night without the chaos of salesladies and tourists. The villages were pleaant to wander around, though I felt really intrusive as a tourist. The Dong minority performances (3x daily, they get you to take a sip of baijiu at the beginning which you tip them for, most gave 10rmb) was interesting. Getting there: From Pingan (Dazhai would work too) I took a bus to Longsheng (10rmb) then another bus to Sanjiang (19rmb). At Sanjiang east bus station (he dong) there are minivan drivers outside who repeat "chengyang qiao" and will likely approach you if you look like a traveler. One charged 60rmb for 2 people but wouldn't go lower than 50rmb for 1. I ended up going with a driver for 80rmb (ticket "included") who transferred me to another driver at the very end who got me in without buying an official ticket, but who provided me with an old ticket (I was adament ahout wanting a ticket just in case, but no one ever asked for it). That driver helped me get a room for 50 rmb at Yang Yang Lv Guan (call Mr Yang2 136-7780-4018, no English), to the right side of Long Feng Hotel (80rmb). I bargained to a better room for the same price (instead of 60rmb) by staying two nights. Pleasant twin room with a nice view of village roofs and mountains, so-so bathroom, but I did see a roach taking shelter on the wall one night when it rained buckets outside. Going back to Sanjiang, I caught one of the local minivans for 10rmb though it should've been 6rmb. Buses from Sanjiang go to Nanning too, but i caught one to Guilin for 50rmb. See more..
- 4.5 Fuli Bridge (88 reviews)
-Peaceful and lesser known
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bridges
This isn't much of a tourist attraction, so there won't be many big tourist bus and hoards of tourist. It is nested in a smaller village, basically the bridge is over 500 years old and not restored, which makes it good for photo taking. It is popular among wedding couples for their photo shoots. The water was calm and most parts were clear that you could see water plants and small fishes. Price for bamboo rafting was on the high side, 300rmb for 4 people, up stream and down, probably takes an hour and over. We had a nice and patient boatman, and we even took over and did some rafting ourselves too, which was fun for the kids. After this is done, we proceeded to Jiu Xian village which is also one of the older and not much restored village. See more..

-Mesmerizing scenic views
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM Parks
We came here by scooters. The views are mesmerizingly beautiful. Most amazing to me are the mountains and their shapes. Much like independent mountains close to each other, rather than looking like a mountain range. See more..

- 4.5 Guangxi Museum of Nationalities (46 reviews)
-Fantastic museum a little ways out from the cbd
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Speciality Museums
The guangxi museum of nationalities is a wonderful place, with exhibits spread out over several levels. The highlights were the reconstructed models of traditional houses as used by the various minority groups. To make the most of your visit, you should allow for at least 2-3 hours. The museum is a little ways out from the city centre, so most likely you'll need to take a taxi, but the free entry makes up for it. See more..
- 4.5 Beihai Old Street (46 reviews)
-A unique architecture
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
It is not common to see preserved buildings in China. This old fishing "town" is full of charm, and this old traditional street is just nearby the sea. A great place for a relaxing time, full of culture. See more..
- 4.5 Guilin Art Park (43 reviews)
-Great sculpture in a beautiful karst setting
Parks • Monuments & Statues
Easy to get to by bus from either Guilin or Yangshuo. Great staff and beautiful grounds but rather expensive at 100 RMB per ticket, especially if you have a large family. It is a good idea to take a picnic lunch as the local restaurants are crazy expensive. The entire park is said to be well over 8000 mu so there is plenty to explore. My other complaint is that the tropical greenhouse is not open to the public. Still there is plenty here to occupy a day. See more..
- 4.5 Guangxi Guilin Forest Park (40 reviews)

- 4.5 Gudong Waterfall (32 reviews)
-Fun Adventure
Waterfalls
It was really exciting to climb up the waterfall, and it's not just one waterfall. It's a whole series of waterfalls. Also, even though it's exciting, it's very safe. They have special grass shoes and safety helmets as well as a chain to hold on to. I highly recommend it especially in the hot summer months. See more..

- 4.5 Jin Zhu Zhuang Nationality Village (30 reviews)
-Old China
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Architectural Buildings
Amazing quaint village along the river. The "long hair women" will show how they fold their hair on top of their heads, really fascinating. Lunch at a local restaurant an experience, not so good and not very hygienic. See more..
- 4.5 Dalongtan Scenic Resort (27 reviews)
-Just beautiful and no one knows about it
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Game & Entertainment Centers
This park is equal to or even better than anything I saw in Guilin, and admission is FREE. It has so many hills with incredible views if you want to enjoy a hike or find a quiet spot to relax, and the air is unbelievably fresh. Another reviewer called it "Liuzhou's lung" and I'd have to agree! In the spring, you can see the peach blossoms blooming, and in the summer the array of butterflies is fantastic. If you climb up one of those hills and sit down for a moment, often a butterfly will land on your shoulder or knee. See more..
- 4.5 Jinhuacha Park (27 reviews)
-A Sea of Energy
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Parks
Told by an elderly man to take children to this place. We speak little Chinese but so glad we followed his advice. Stared walking along tracks with the people ... Like jumping into a 'river of energy' ...just had to walk with them. Peaceful, well kept, clean toilets and so much to see.... Pity all those who perpetuate garbage stories about China never visit places like this... See more..
- 4.5 Mingshi Rurality (23 reviews)
-Stunning and quiet beauty
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Civic Centres
We stayed one night in Mingshi rurality during our 4-day self guided tour of this part of Guangxi. This place is really easy to get to from Daxin (Check you my other review of Detian for travel details). It might sound exaggerated, but this is one of the most beautiful places to watch a sunset in China. This is not only because of the natural beauty of the karst landscape, but also due to the quiet serenity and relatively small crowds. There is still a country calmness and charm to this place. Eating at one of the local restaurants is a culinary experience in itself. Try their open roasted duck and pork in particular, as well as their pickled root vegetables, very unique to this part of the world! See more..
- 4.5 Guangxi Maoer Mountain Reserve (20 reviews)
-Wonderful scenery - but foreigners beware!
Tuesday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
I went to Mao-er Shan with my Chinese wife and two Chinese friends. It's a fantastic place. The views are spectacular and there are well built wooden walkways through glorious forests near the summit which are quite breath-taking. BUT as a foreigner I had to pay RMB300 more than the other members of the party, and then we all had to get off the bus half -way up and wait for about an hour as phone calls were made as to whether or not a foreigner was allowed. If you're not fluent in Chinese or with Chinese friends, don't bother going! See more..
- 4.5 Yangshuo Forest Park of Guangxi (20 reviews)
-世外小桃源
Parks
