Strongly recommended to pay the extra and take this ride from the starting point. One of the clearest waters where the ride will pass through 7 river steps. Riding along with the water ducks, witnessing all the different ranges and rock formations. We came here with our tour group and spent a couple of hours walking around after having lunch up on the 'tree house' of a restaurant right off the Yongji bridge on the village side. We walked to three different villages and saw the real life of the minority people. We did not see any shows but enjoyed just simply checking out the sights. Children were playing in the village during their lunch breaks in the early afternoon and it was fun just chatting with them a little. A memorable visit of the villages. See more..

It is a bonus visit in our trip to Hezhou, Guangxi. This village is nicely and naturally decorated, it should have history of more than 200 years. The village is in the form of rectangular shape, with wall of 3 metres height as fence and partition. There are not too many dwellers in the village. But in time of celebration, most villagers should be crowded in the area at the front of the village. It is now a place to air preserved sausage and pork. While staying in Guilin we had a fantastic day trip to the Longsheng village where the Yao minority lives. Spectacular rice terraces hight high up in the steep mountain sides. One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! If you go to Guilin make sure you make time for a tour here. To us this was almost as spectacular as the boat trip on Li River. Danzhou Ancient City is a unique island community on the road from Sanjiang to Liuzhou in north-central Guangxi. I stopped off during a three-day bike trip through the region. I was there on a weekday, so travelers were fewer than otherwise would be. We went to Jiuzhou by bike. I don't really know how far it was, but I guess around 10 km. We have just been biking and walking around near the bridge. It was a cute town. There are signs in the town that will lead you to some places (e.g. wineyard, fishing) but we did not see this. I guess we were there for about an hour. See more..

Ho Chi Minh lived in exile in China for some time, and for a while in this small house in Liuzhou, now inside the grounds of a middle school. Very old village with well preserved mandarin house and narrow stone streets. Each of the ancient house displays a short introduction in Chinese of the mandarin who inhabited it. Most of the houses are empty now but still none of them was opened to visit. Very few tourists, the village is very calm. Public transport is not convenient, from Guilin you have to first take bus to Lingchuan, then another bus to Jiuwu, then walk one kilometer more or less. So it can take up to 3 hours to get there despite its only 30 km from guilin, you would need less than an hour in taxi. Therefore If you stay a few days in Guilin it's not worth a visit. See more..

Very few tourists, who looked like people living in the neighborhood and coming here just for a walk after lunch. It took 1 hour’s drive from Guilin downtown. We totally do not recommend this place. Yuling Historic Village is founded by a scholar by the name of Zhou and many of the descendants have done well for themselves. The original residence has an official Zhou Memorial Hall where Zhou families come to pay respect. However, if you are curious and that you are willing to offer donations, you are welcomed to enter and pay respect to the Zhou ancestors. Apart from that, by walking around the village, you get a sense of how things used to be like centuries ago. That being said, modern buildings without any planning and architectural merits are starting to pop up on the fringe with solar panels and exposed hot water cylinder. It's heartening to see that Chinese Government is funding to restore key historical buildings to ensure that local culture is being preserved, and that it complements the tourism sector by enabling travellers and tourists to see what would have been like centuries ago. Next time when you are there, look up at the roof eave design (as seen on profile picture here), and that's known as the horse's mane design which is evident in this popular movie, Crouching Tiger Hidden Tiger. There's also a large pond in front of the village (signifying good fengshui). This Village is a Paradise for keen photographers because it has the famous Guilin hills as the backdrop, and kumquat plantation that's forever left an aromatic fragrance in the air. 前个月去的吞力屯黑衣壮，一到寨门就hold不住了。寨里的姑娘们都端着一杯玉米酒让我们喝，好热情啊！！里面的杆栏式建筑也很有特色，我最喜欢的是他门的蓝靛染织工艺，让我联想到了轧染，和蜡染。又是一种新型工艺呢！里面的人超热情的，跳舞对歌什么的，还有模拟结婚的。哟喂！最后还可以去他们里面的一个“金花寨”客栈休息，一个很有民族特色的休闲吧。客栈也很有特色，晚上天空很多星星呢！ See more..

Our tour took us to this Miao village where we spent a couple of hours with the villagers. Singing, dancing, eating, drinking, everybody in our group had a great time. The villagers were all dressed up and blocked our way to enter the village until they sang and we sang back to them. Then they lead us in a group dance. Lastly, they took us to the village where tables were set up with food to share. The 'force drinking' was the most fun when the women pulled people's ears and pour wine to their throats. 在中山路的桂林百货商场对面，免费观看，有两个门口，中山路门口还有桂林米粉+本地锅烧卖，经济实惠，交通特方便。
