I went to Mao-er Shan with my Chinese wife and two Chinese friends. It's a fantastic place. The views are spectacular and there are well built wooden walkways through glorious forests near the summit which are quite breath-taking. BUT as a foreigner I had to pay RMB300 more than the other members of the party, and then we all had to get off the bus half -way up and wait for about an hour as phone calls were made as to whether or not a foreigner was allowed. If you're not fluent in Chinese or with Chinese friends, don't bother going!See more..
We took the river cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. The sights were amazing. The karst topography of the place is what made Guilin famous. The food on the cruise was not the best though. You would also need a lot of patience with the local aunties and uncles who would just shove you out of their way just to get a decent photograph.See more..

Monkeys are not afraid of people at all, they would even climb to the shoulders of tourists in order to ask for food! Lovely and cute monkeys. It is very funny to look them eating peanuts, playing on the rocks and enjoying the sunshine. There are eight monkey troops, each group has its own monkey king. il semble que le programme immobilier et touristique autour de cet endroit a été stoppé. Les batiments sont vides, les chemins ne sont plus entretenus. En demandant aux locaux (il faut parler un peu le chinois ;-) on a réussi à trouver un chemin qui monte dans la montagne, mais assez difficile car pas entretenu.
